Blind Super Mario Brothers.

A guy known only as s00pcan can be seen here beating the first two levels of the classic Super Mario Brothers game. Quite a few people seem to think he’s faking it, but I’m inclined to believe it’s real after reading his description on YouTube.

Hit play, or go to the Link [YouTube] to view the video. via engadget

I could do the whole game and I’ll prove it by wearing a blindfold. I can beat the game in under 7 minutes. I’m awesome.

    He ain’t got no distractions
Can’t hear those buzzers and bells
    Don’t see lights a flashin’
    Plays by sense of smell
    Always gets a replay
    Never tilts at all
That deaf, dumb and blind kid
    Sure plays a mean pinball

It would be more impressive (but probably not realistic) if he was actually blind. With enough practice it wouldn’t be that amazing.

He’s playing looking into a mirror. That’s how I would do it anyway…

Who cares if he’s really doing it? There are no impressive moves in here that really require much in the way of timing. In 1-1 he just takes the pipe. In 1-2 he runs across the top of the level and jumps a couple of times to make sure he doesn’t fall into a hole. I was really disappointed.

Holy crap, someone actually read the description? Thank you. Just by reading the second half you can tell that I’ve memorized the whole thing. I mean, read it while playing the video. Except where I screw up and have to fix , you could program a robot to do this using my instructions.

Although it’s easy to point out so many ways this could be faked, who would bother faking something so unspectacular?

    Different, but not “wow”.

The game came out in 1985. Come on. Find a challenge.
