Not sure if this is a haxxor or not. Many of those pieces in the Scan “from 1961″ were available til the 90s – flourescent headlight disks, hinges for the window pillars etc. Nice hack of the typography which is about right.
I won’t call it “fake” (as I don’t think that was the intent). I am going to call it someone just having fun.
But as has been stated, the pieces are modern. Also the Lego logo is wrong for 1961. The “O” had a break in it until the late ’60s/early ’70s. And the box layout is the modern layout.
Still cute. And Lego did make VW related sets.
Those are recent parts– definitely fake. In 1961, Lego models were primitive, made from fewer, simpler parts:

Has anyone thought that the 1961 refers to the model number. This is a recent piece due to the new parts.
What matters is that it is a fair attempt at a model camper.
am totaly agreeing with ferrani on this one, its very obvious this is the year of the model and not the lego set, wake up peeps !!!! ‘ i want one !!!’
