Inhaling Sulphur Hexafluoride.

Remember the aluminum foil boat floating on sulphur hexafluoride gas we had before? Turns out, if you inhale the gas, it gives you the opposite effect of inhaling helium.

    Hmm, is that safe?

    And I thought you have to make a handstand after you inhaled Sodium Hexalfluoride to get it all out of your lung.

    nitrous oxide (laughing gas) does the same thin just not as dramatically. have you ever done a whip-it?

    I wonder what would happen if you breathed helium AND sodium hexafluoride at the same time...?

    (Aside from getting a major case of the dizzies, that is...)

    @Denita.

    I was thinking the same thing. I think it would be more of a squeaky low pitched voice, because the heavier gas would stay longer (hexafluoride) while the lighter gas (helium) rose. I'm no scientist though.

    just one thing... it's sulphur hexaflouride (SF_6) *not* sodium (Na) ...

    Oopsie, I also called it "sodium" instead of "sulphur". My bad!

    Eeh, we were only off by a mere five atomic numbers... ;-)
