Drawing a Perfect Circle

Alexander Overwijk, a teacher from Ottawa (Canada), is one of the fastest Circle Drawers in the world. In this video, he draws a close-to-perfect 3 foot wide circle in one second. Even if he did not win the seemingly non-existent World Freehand Circle Drawing Competition, his talent is still impressive.

This reminds me of Giotto di Bondone and the story of him painting a perfect circle for the pope as a demonstration of his skills.

It’s the little things that impress me, I watched the video at the same time as the clock on the wall. Coincidence? Or spooky

It is amazing tha the can do that, but more amazing still is the comeraderie that he has with his students. That was beautiful to see.

Looks good, but I’d like to see some actual measurements before saying it’s perfect.

I’ve been lucky enough to have many excellent teachers not unlike Mr. Overwijik. Go Canada :)

We had an international circle drawing competition here in Ottawa recently. The video is posted on youtube at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u1J5ANnq0T8 and features, of course, Mr. Overwijk.

@chickenbeaver: teachers everywhere are probably underpaid but Mr. Overwijk is at least our department head, so you could rest assured that he can likely eat at least once every other night. And yes, I did just say that to craftily imply that I had Mr. O as a teacher.

Really, I’m surprisingly impressed with Netflix.

Wow! It’s amazing. “If I wanted to see a man draw a circle, I would have went to the circle drawing class!”
