It’s only work for 7×8. Try it with any other number and it will not work at all.
I try 6*7 and this metod give me 82 as answer. I think it’s wrong.
Do I read the instructions right?
Fot 6×7:
1. Match the fingers numbre 6 and number 7, and you will end with 4 fingers in one hand and 3 fingers in the other.
2. If each finger left sum 10, they will be 70.
3. Now, you must multiplay the fingers from one hand and the other. So 4*3 = 12.
4. Finaly, 12 + 70 = 82.
….that’s wrong.
6*7:
1. Ring and pinky finger touch; 3 fingers; 30
2. 3*4 top fingers; 12
3. 30+12=42 (6*7-42)
What? This is crazy. Just memorize the multiplication tables. It’s not that hard. Geez.
oh lukas that was done totaly wrong, just give it another read over
Oh….
So you have to add 10 for the tuching fingers plus every one ‘below’.
The fact that they draw the number 50 on top make me lost.
Thanks dodgyd55!

So you have to add 10 for the touching fingers plus every one ‘below’.
The fact that they draw the number 50 on top make me lost.

I’m going to have to go with Moon on this one. Memorizing the multiplication tables is so much easier. Duh.
This is good for people who *can’t* memorize their multiplication tables for whatever reason. It’s good to have an alternative way and then maybe their brain will ‘click’ into place and ‘get it’ to help them start memorizing. I agree, it’s more complicated than just memorizing though.
This is actually really easy! I was confused at first but 10 minutes of struggle later, I got it down! I think it would have been much easier to learn my multiplication tables in the 3rd grade this way instead of memorizing them. But I am an adult now so oh well!
