Extreme Origami.

Extreme Origami. From the website:

In the dojo of the origami purist, there are only two rules: The folder may use just one sheet of square paper, and the paper cannot be cut or torn in any way. Following these rules to make a figure like a peace crane, with four basic features—a head, a tail, and two wings—is relatively easy, and origamists traditionally proceeded by trial and error, unfolding and refolding a piece of paper until it started to resemble, say, a swan. For hundreds of years, origami’s most complex patterns topped out at 20 steps.

These days patterns requiring more than 100 steps are common. Some of that competitive acceleration is due to Lang, who transformed the art by writing a computer program that can generate the blueprint for ultracomplex origami sculptures. Even with digital assistance, figuring out the sequence of folds that will create a beetle and all its ornaments is a mathematical problem of staggering complexity. Still, the reigning champion of intricate origami is a 23-year-old Japanese savant named Satoshi Kamiya. Unaided by software, he recently produced what is considered the pinnacle of the field, an eight-inch-tall Eastern dragon with eyes, teeth, a curly tongue, sinuous whiskers, a barbed tail, and a thousand overlapping scales. The folding alone took 40 hours, spread out over several months.

I’d love to see the instructions for this as well, though they’re probably as thick as an encyclopedia.

It’s obviously not made from a single piece of paper, it must require many, and then the pieces hook together. But probably each individual piece starts square and then is folded without cutting.

    What a bunch of dumbasses.

    1. This article is 3 years old.

    2. The blog author did not make the dragon he’s just reporting on it.

    3. Even, if this was the creator’s blog, just use some common sense. He spent 40+ hours to create a unique piece of art. Why would he give out instructions for it? Further more, why would he take time to send them out individually to a bunch of random douchebags on the Internet?

    4. There are NO instructions to send, so stop asking.

    Hi everyone. Yes, I’m God.
All of you who are asking for the instruction of Ryujin 3.5 dragon, THEY ARE NOT AVAILABLE.
If you are an origami lover, you have already realize that the creator is Satoshi Kamiya, and just try to imagine how much times took him to do this. So again the instruction ARE NOT AVAILABLE.
There is another master in origami his name is Eric Joisel.
You can learn more of origami and see that includes also mathematical analysis, so is not as simple as you think.
    CHECK THESE SITES:

    1. You’ll never see te instructions for that design
    2. I can believe it’s one piece of paper, because:
    3. It uses box-pleating and other advanced origami techniques.

THERE IS NO INSTRUCTION AND WILL NEVER BE ANY!
So stop requesting them. If you had thought just a little bit about it you would realize how that request is never going to be answered… But then again you might also believe that you are able to make this origami…but if you were you would not need instructions… Come on we are talking about a savant here just look it up and you would see that there is no way you can get even close to his level. Appreciate it like a sculpture not like something you might have in your living.

Ce qui est extraordinaire est que plus vous dîtes aux gens d’arrêter de demander la méthode de ce magnifique origami, plus ils continuent ! Ah sens des contradiction, quand tu nous tiens !

marissa this model had no cuts no glue or anything your just a dumb bimbo who thinks she knows everything about origami this model was made with one giant 2meter by 2meter piece of paper there will never be instructions satoshi kamiya said so at one of the origami usa conventions but there is a crease pattern for those of you who want to try it but only one other person in the world has done it so you will pretty much have to fold as many different models as you can before this one because it is one of the most complex origami models ever for the crease pattern look up ryuzin 3.5 cp i am 13 and am already designing models so if any person wants to try practice makes perfect !!!!

Ive been keen on origami for a number of years now and am particularly fond of the different styles of dragon.
As mentioned many times on this post, there are no instructions available for ryuzin.
Some of the more advanced clubs/sites/forums have crease patterns available and people on these sites are using collaberative experiences to try and work through it however dont expect them to be much help if you want to try it yourself. Doing even relatively simple models from a crease pattern alone requires a great level of knowledge and a certain amount of lateral thinking. For most people they wouldnt even know where to begin.
As for asking for patterns. The ‘origami masters’ of today for the most part live for their art and as such earn a living by publishing books etc on the subject. If you want to learn how to make a particular model find out who designed it and buy their book, do not ask people to email instructions on forums as this is essentially copyright theft.
A good dragon to make if your an accomplished folder is another by Satoshi Kamiya. Ancient Dragon

    http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_vZbFpa6k_9U/SeXYezdMEzI/AAAAAAAAAPs/zNT7Ac1S 4U0/s400/enshen.jpg

This will take an experienced folder about 8-10 hourd with the instructions which are available in Satoshi Kamiya’s book.
