Tree Branch Bike.

Thanks blurb! |
Great concept. Is this more of a sculpture than a bike, as there are no pedals or gears? Is this a work in progress?
I wish I knew more, idontgetit – if anyone knows more about this bike, please let me know!
Its sculpture. Not a bicycle, not really even a swiftwalker which predates the bike. Notice the wheels are not in the same plane, in a way that is unlike any steering method I am familiar with.
Anyway, there is nothing to get. Somebody made it, threw it together its certain, because driftwood forks are not really going to last very long, and failed forks = ouch.
Sculpture. I would point out the wiring behind it, seems to be of about the same quality and workmanship. Run it through the door and if needed, let one cable just trail off into the paved patio, what could go wrong?
Here is a (working) wooden bike I snapped in Kashgar, China, even has wooden wheels…
It’s amazing that a tree branch can grow into the shape of spoked wheels.
Hola! Recojo esta entrada para mi blog. Esta guay.
Saludos. Gollus.
Wow, Ken. What a find and a great snapshot. I just came across it in the Make flickr pool and came here to post it! If you would ever consider giving me a copy of the photo in hi res I would really appreciate it and respect your wishes on its use. bikenrightnow onthat yahoo place, if you want to email, I’ll be adding you as a flickr friend as well.
Thanks again! Travesty
Ken, you shared a hi res of it under creative commons. I only wish you knew the original artist! Great job, wooden bikes are something special.
Travesty
it looks like it was in Santa Fe, NM. just a guess by the stuff in the picture
That is more rustic than most of mine.
But ridable wooden bikes are easy to make and a fun way to prototype and explore ideas.
See how at woodenbikes.com
seen quite a few wooden bikes but this one is ridiculous.
