3 Foot, 37 Lb. Woman Gave Birth.

By Alex in Science & Tech on Feb 11, 2006 at 2:04 am

Eloysa Vasquez, who is 3 feet tall, weighs 37 pounds before being pregnant and suffers from osteogenesis imperfecta, gave birth to a baby boy.

Judging from her son’s long fingers and toes, Vasquez said, "I think he’s going to be a tall boy."

Her husband, Roy, said his wife’s small stature can be deceiving: "She’s a strong lady."

According to the university, one in only 25,000 to 50,000 births are to a mother with osteogenesis imperfecta, and even fewer involve moms with the severe Type 3 form.

Congrats, Eloysa & Roy! Link

I don’t know which story is more disgusting and disturbing, this one or the one just below.

Why is this one disgusting or disturbing, Pogee? I thought it was a triumph of a woman’s perseverence and determination to have a child, regardless of the challenges of her disease.

This is great news for all women and especially for differently able women. It is important for society to see that differenly able women can accomplish their dreams just like any able boddied women. Today motherhood, tomorrow CEO of a major corporation!
