Chuck Jones Shows You How To Draw Bugs Bunny

(YouTube Link)

Here's a fun little art lesson for you, straight from the master of cartoon disaster himself Chuck Jones!

This segment comes from the 1991 documentary Chuck Amuck, which is a must see film for anyone who loves the work of artist, animator, director and all around swell guy Chuck Jones.

Cartoons just aren't the same without Chuck calling the shots, and every budding animator should be familiar with his works so that his legacy will live on.

A Brit Announcing An NBA Game = Comedy Gold

(YouTube Link)

The average Brit knows as much about the NBA as the average American knows about Arsenal and FIFA, which is why it's hilarious to hear one of the Queen's own announce a game between "the Clappers" (sic) and the Spurs.

And, although the game isn't real therefore the announcer isn't currently employed by ESPN to add commentary to NBA games, it's fun to hear someone adding some much needed color and dry wit to a pro basketball dribble fest.

Good show, old chap!  (NSFW due to some off color humor)

The Real News Is Happening In The Background

(YouTube Link)

You know those on location news reports that happen where the incident took place, but well after the smoke has cleared?

Well, this on-the-spot reporter got more than he bargained for when a man fell out of a window behind him and brought the WTF factor to his news report.

It's random occurrences like these that make clips of the evening news watchable, even if we're just tuning in for a laugh at the expense of the newscasters.

One Winged Office: A Sephiroth Song

(YouTube Link)

Apparently, the source of Sephiroth's anger was an office job from hell, who knew? Looks like the silver haired badass from Final Fantasy was misunderstood after all.

A suitable replacement soundtrack- "I Don't Like Mondays" by the Boomtown Rats.

A Behind The Scenes Tour Of Moonrise Kingdom

(YouTube Link)

One of the stars of Wes Anderson's latest film Moonrise Kingdom would like to take you on a hilariously lackluster behind the scenes tour.

You may have heard his name mentioned before, because he's been in a few films over the last 37 or so years of his career-Bill Murray. Does that name ring any bells?

He's a funny guy who's wearing funny clothes as he talks about this upcoming funny film. Hooray for hilarity!

Does Firefly Take Place In The Same Universe As Prometheus?

Geek overlord Joss Whedon has made no attempt to hide his nerdy side from the entertainment world, and he loves to place easter eggs in his productions that make fans drool at their discovery.

This particular easter egg comes from the pilot episode of Firefly:
In the opening sequence of Firefly‘s pilot episode, “Serenity,” Nathan Fillion’s Malcolm Reynolds is fighting the Battle of Serenity Valley. And losing. But before he’s forced to lay down his guns, he hops behind a giant anti-aircraft cannon to shoot down an Alliance fighter. And when he powers up the gun, the heads-up-display reveals a very familiar logo in the top part of the screen

The logo in question is the Weyland-Yutani Corporation logo, from the Aliens film franchise. Now that would be one amazing crossover-the crew of the Serenity vs. a horde of bloodthirsty xenomorphs!

Artists Pay Tribute To Adam Yauch

The untimely death of Adam Yauch (MCA of the seminal rap group The Beastie Boys) sparked a wave of fan tributes that hit the internet like a tsunami.

Check out these really cool MCA/Beastie Boys inspired paintings by artists who were clearly sippin' on some Brass Monkey while they were seated at the easel- Chris B. Murray, Dave MacDowell, Dan Santat, and Ken Garduno.

Michael Jantzen Deconstructs The Suburbs

Designer Michael Jantzen has an interesting idea about the future of (sub)urban renewal-let it all fall down.

His photo manipulation series illustrates what our neighborhoods would look like in the hands of architects more concerned with form than function.

When deconstruction becomes the latest fad in suburban architecture, we'll all have to sleep in tents on the lawn!

Awesome Star Wars Watercolor Paintings

These Star Wars watercolor paintings by Redditor terry_cook1 have come from a galaxy far, far away to class up your collection of geeky art.

The sketchy style, colorful splotches and intricate details make these spaced out watercolor works worthy of acclaim by art critics and galactic geeks alike. Check out the rest of these Star Wars masterpieces at the link below.

Man Customizes His Mustang With A Sharpie

If I didn't know the back story, I never would have suspected that this custom paint job was created with permanent marker!

Chris Dunlop took the customization of his Mustang into his own hands, spending 50 hours and burning through a bunch of Sharpie pens to create this automotive masterpiece.

The only drawback- if he leaves his car outside during a particularly acidic rain storm all that hard work will go swirling down the drain.

Carpets Made Out Of Clothes Pins, Confetti And Plastic Forks

These carpets were made by Dutch art collective We Make Carpets, but they're not the kind of carpets that make your home full a little cozier.

Nor should you ever walk on these carpets, unless you like the feel of bloody feet, for these are strictly decorative carpets, art panels made out of recycled materials like plastic cutlery, clothes pins and other bits of brightly colored plastic.

It's a beautifully patterned comment on consumerism and form over function, and when you're tired of hanging them in your home you can chuck them in the bin and recycle them once again!

Anthony Bourdain's Mythical Menu Item

Since I'm a big fan of that travellin' culinary man Anthony Bourdain, I was excited to hear that he'd soon be adding mythical beasts to his menu.

Then I found out that he was only joking around with a young lady, who asked him how he'd cook a unicorn at the Great GoogaMooga Festival in Brooklyn, New York.

Here's his response:
He would roast the loin, grill the legs, braise the forequarter and use the horn to pick your teeth with after the meal. For the record, unicorn marrow is delicious, he says.

I wonder how the little girl reacted to his ideas on how to prepare a unicorn?

Unusual And Interesting Paintings By Fraser Gray

Fraser Gray's paintings aren't limited to the confines of the canvas, and his whimsical works look equally good hanging on a wall or covering it.

His paintings defy convention in many ways, and yet his subjects are, for the most part, mundane objects and average people jumbled together like visual patterns of madness.

You can peruse a few of his paintings at the Boom link below, and if you like what you see head over to Fraser's Flickr page to see many more examples of his stylish and interesting works.

Joss Whedon Sings!

(YouTube Link)

Joss Whedon writes hit television shows, directs blockbuster films and apparently he's also one hell of a singer.

Watch him belt out a tune in an episode of This American Life from 2010, a tune from Commentary! The Musical, which originally appeared on the DVD edition of Doctor Horrible's Sing-Along. It's pure geeky musical love, don't hate!
