Unusual Artwork Combines Ordinary People And Disposable Objects

These sculptures are so beautifully crafted, and so finely detailed, that rendering them on aluminum roasting pans and trays is almost a shame, since these flimsy, throwaway objects can so easily be destroyed.

Created by Idan Friedman, these are classical styled portraits with a modern twist, recyclable works of art that hopefully won't end up in a recycling bin.

Share This Ultimate GIF For The Holidays

This animated GIF by Matt Layzell of Treat Studios celebrates the epic awesomeness of the holidays with a bright, splashy display that could only be improved by playing Iron MaidenĀ  in the background.

Share this one with someone who doesn't believe in Santa Claus, to warn them against getting their name stuck on the Naughty List.

Artist Cleans Moss From Wall To Create Reverse Graffiti

When graffiti artist Strook decided to create a piece for De Invasie, a series of artworks based around ecology, he grabbed a high pressure hose instead of an aerosol can and removed the moss from the wall, one line at a time, to create this awesome mechanical bird mural.

You can see more photos of this reverse graffiti piece at the link below, including shots of Strook at work on the wall and close-up detail shots so you can more fully appreciate the linework that went in to creating the mural. I wonder if law enforcement agencies will vilify this form of clean graffiti as they have with other forms of street art?

New Trailer For The Dictator Is Timely Fun

(YouTube Link)

Leave it to Sasha Baron Cohen, the guy behind Borat and Ali G, to make light of an uncomfortable situation with broad humor which will allow those being lampooned to laugh at themselves, although ruthless dictators are some of the toughest nuts to crack. Watch this trailer for The Dictator and bask in the glory of global unrest-themed ridiculousness.

The Ninja Turtles Celebrate Christmas

At the height of the TMNT fad (circa 1994), the heroes in a half-shell put out a Christmas special, full of their own unique brand of self promotion. See how the Turtles can turn most any Christmas carol into a song about themselves, or food, and watch as their rubber lips flap to the beat. It's a nostalgic Christmas clip for all the Ninja Turtles fans from way back!

Candid Celebrity Portraits From The 70s And 80s

Remember when celebrity portraits weren't photoshopped, and the stars were allowed to relax and be themselves, rather than posing on ridiculously overdone sets in the latest couture ensemble?

This series by Norman Seeff finds celebs relaxing, goofing around, and occasionally just hangin' out in full outfit and makeup (I'm looking at you KISS). Take a stroll through the rest of the images at the link below, and reminisce about a time before John Travolta found Scientology, the Jackson 5 sported afros, and the Rolling Stones still had their edge.

A Penguin Fetching The Newspaper

(YouTube Link)

I know some of you are going to say "this video is old", because we all know that interwebs enthusiasts think anything posted a week ago is old, much less something from 2008.

But really guys, does it ever get old watching a penguin start the pet revolution against dogs? The only thing that would make this video better is if a dog were to come in and jealously compete for most newspapers fetched in one day. Let the competition for best pet begin!

Giant LED Screen Ceilings At Chinese Mall

(YouTube Link)

Shopping in The Place Mall in Beijing, China is like taking a strange journey through a hallucinatory wonderland, or maybe it's just the giant LED screens that play animated videos all day. They don't look like very much fun for people who suffer from motion sickness, or for those who already think the sky is falling.

Crazy Burger King Commercial From Russia

The Russian mob is powerless against the magic experienced while eating in Burger King restaurants, at least according to this wacky Russian commercial. It's like clubbing and a magic show, all while chowing down on tasty burgers!

Photo-Realistic Paintings of Vintage Household Objects

These charming paintings by Christopher Stott are full of nostalgia and the love of vintage design.

With muted hues and a soft light, they're easily mistaken for photographs at a glance, and Christopher shows remarkable skill for imitating real-world reflections, from chrome to painted metal to the edge of a plastic book sleeve.

You can admire the rest of these masterfully crafted paintings at the link below.

Scary Left 4 Dead Fan Film Trailer

(YouTube Link)

It looks like Bill wasn't lucky enough to survive a recent encounter with the undead in this Left 4 Dead fan film trailer from Airsoft GI and Northern Five Entertainment, based on the popular zombie apocalypse themed video game.

This trailer would make a great cut scene for Left 4 Dead gameplay after a member of the group dies. Man, i'd be bummed too if one of the four survivors in my group is now a buffet for the infected, and it's probably my fault. The full length fan film is going to be released soon, and so far it looks like gloomy goodness.

Pretty Ghastly Little Classical Lady Sculptures

Fiona (2010) by Jessica Harrison

These classically-styled statues of classy ladies with a grisly twist are the products of Jessica Harrison's twisted imagination. She performs minor surgery on ceramic statues, removing an arm or skullcap or sometimes the entire head, then she modifies the statues to tell a dark, murderous tale.

If Hummel ever started making statues like these, I'm sure a Brony-esque trend would follow.
