Nike Is About To Take Shoes Back To The Future

(YouTube Link)

If you thought you had to go back in time to see the shoes Marty McFly wore in Back To The Future II, you'll be positively delighted by Nike's release of the 2011 MAG, faithful reproductions of the shoes seen in the film which are being auctioned off to benefit the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson's Research. If you're like me, though, and can't come anywhere near affording the hefty $5000 price tag, you'll just have to wait until 2015 when Nike releases the real deal version of these shoes, complete with power laces. Now someone needs to get to work on creating a working hoverboard and all of our BTTF fantasies will have come true!

The Chronicles Of A Super Senior

This is what happen when superheroes get a little long in the tooth, and grow so old that they aren't quite as super any more. This series of paintings by Swedish artist Andreas Englund shows the fate of all non-immortal beings-wrinkles, weight gain and a feeling that tackling mundane tasks is like performing mini feats of heroism.

These Redesigns Are Rough Around The Edges...In A Good Way

Through the eyes of Robbi Rodriguez, pop culture icons such as Doctor Who, Darth Vader and the Rocketeer are imbued with frenetic energy, rendered in pen and ink with  jagged outlines and a roughness which is counterbalanced by sharp, smooth detail. Take your eyeballs on a tour of the pic gallery posted on ComicsAlliance, then head to Robbi's website for more ocular delights!

The Empire Strikes Back With Another Deleted Scene

(YouTube Link)

I'm sure you're thinking "Gee, just what we need, another deleted scene...", but this one's a little different than the rest. In this scene from The Empire Strikes Back, featuring Han and Leia bickering and oozing all kinds of sexual tension, you get to see Harrison Ford's acting sound forced and a bit hackneyed, which may result in feelings of disillusionment and sadness. Not all deleted scenes hit the cutting room floor due to time constraints, some were removed to avoid fan heartbreak!

Transparent Skin Developed By Japanese Researchers

If you want to show the world what you're REALLY made of, guts and all, then your wait is almost over. Thanks to Japanese researchers from RIKEN, biological tissue can be turned transparent via chemical reagent, so you can look like a superhero without the need to have powers or a cool alien back story. Unfortunately, this reagent doesn't work on living tissue, so you'll have to wait a while longer for your clear skin makeover. Until then, read on at PopSci and imagine all the creepy possibilities!

Foodies and Fantasy Novels-The Quest For New Recipes

When fantasy genre and food enthusiast Adam Bruski read the "A Game Of Thrones" novels by George R.R. Martin, he paid close attention to an aspect that i'm sure very few reading the books have even noticed-the amazing sounding recipes. So he has taken it upon himself to recreate the recipes, using only ingredients which would have been available during the Medieval period, on his cooking blog "Cooking Ice And Fire". Bruski's passion for food shines through in his recipes, of which there are six so far, and the fantasy food turned haute cuisine recipes range from the strange (cold egg lime soup) to the sublime (veal cutlets blanched with almond milk). With many more books and recipes to go, Adam aims to show us all what we've been missing while reading through the series, and how we can bring home exotic and interesting flavors from our favorite fantasy novels!
