Goonies Meets A Game Of Thrones

(YouTube Link)

This ridiculous mashup, which combines Chunk's confession to the Fratelli gang in Goonies with a scene from the Game of Thrones TV series featuring Tyrion confessing to some rather nasty deeds, has some great reaction shots from the surrounding characters in the scene, and makes me want to demand a truffle shuffle from that wicked little man!

This Prop Sword Looks A Bit Too Berserk For Cosplay

This hand crafted sword looks waaaaay too big to be lugging around all day during a convention cosplay session. Inspired by the sword carried by the main character Guts in the anime/manga series Berserk (as seen in the poster above the sword), it's a super sized prop that looks really hard to handle. I applaud your effort sir, now get to work on that Final Fantasy VII Buster Sword stat!

Retro Batman Trading Card Art

The artwork from the 1966 Batman trading card set is so delightfully retro, with simpler character designs, hand painted panels, and less stylized versions of your fav villains, that I hope modern artists and designers take note when going for that retro look in their own artwork.

It's not all about warm and tacky color schemes, Hanna Barbera character designs and outdated fashion, it's the fact that everything is done without using a heavy outline and vector shading to convey form. These beautifully rendered panels by Norman Saunders have a classical aesthetic, and I'd almost forgotten how mundanely human villains faced by the Caped Crusader used to be!

SNK Reveals Portable Neo Geo System

With the wave of portable gaming consoles coming out, it's not surprising that SNK has jumped on board and revealed their Neo-Geo Portable Device (hopefully tentative title), which will come pre-loaded with 20 classic titles like Metal Slug, King Of Monsters and Fatal Fury, has 2gb internal memory and an SD card slot for loading emulator ROMs, and even has an AV output for playing on the bigger screen.

What is surprising is how little we've heard about anything Neo-Geo over the years, considering their fan following and the fact that I still see Neo-Geo arcade units all the time in bars and taco shops all over town.

I guess the ridiculously high $600 price tag really did put this otherwise awesome console to bed, so hopefully the release of this Portable Device, and a more affordable price tag, will help resurrect the arcade gaming giant.

Wilco Channels Popeye For Their Latest Music Video

(YouTube Link)

No one has ever accused me of being a fan of Wilco, or their alt-country sound, but I have been a huge fan of Popeye ever since I was a wee lad, getting in trouble for emulating the Sailor Man by beating up kids on the playground at preschool.

These days, I like my Popeye cartoons old and uncolored, and apparently so does Wilco, for they have cast a decidedly old timey version of the spinach munching tough guy in their new music video, which is the first hand drawn Popeye cartoon produced in over 30 years.

I yam what I yam, and that's a Popeye fan, don't hate!

Pirate Bay Reveals Newest Trend-Downloading Objects For 3D Printing

While technologically inept government officials argue over the fate of our beloved interwebs, and the thought of people sharing data is scrutinized and villainized by those who admittedly "don't get it", those who feel that sharing is caring keep searching for new ways, and stuff, to share.

Pirate Bay, the website that has gained a notorious reputation among those fearful of file sharing, are about to become my personal heroes by revealing the newest torrent trend-sharing objects for 3d printing.

Downloading 3d object files for printing may sound like a concept straight from an episode of Star Trek but it's going to be a reality sooner than you think, and I am so excited to see what people will create for the sake of 3d object sharing.

Download, print, paint, repeat-oh the joys of technology!

Mickey Mouse X Joy Division = WTF

If "love will tear us apart", then we'll surely be left in one piece by this newest Disney oddity-the Mouse that helped create an empire meets the cover art of Joy Division's album Unknown Pleasures in their newest t-shirt design.

Seeing designs like this coming out of the Mouse Factory makes me wonder if Disney's design crew think about the subtexts relayed by their images, or if they see a hot trend happening and just follow right along. What's next-emo Mickey complete with lame haircut and mascara?

Strange Space Station Designs That Didn't Make The Cut

Before construction on the International Space Station began, a flood of conceptual designs passed across the drawing board, an Wired has gathered a gallery of designs that didn't make the cut.

From far out, scifi influenced designs to more mundane designs that missed the mark by a hair, these concept drawings are fun to peruse and take us back to a simpler time in space design, a time when landing a space shuttle on a runway atop the space station actually made a lot of sense. Check them all out at the link below, and see what space looked like back in the day.

You Won't Like Obama When He's Angry

This incredibly cool sculpture is brought to you by the twisted mind of Ron English, an artist known for warping iconic figures into ironic statements (see Fat Tony and Dead Mickey), and who previously brought us an Obama-Lincoln mashup that was all the rage a few years back.

This time, Ron has brought us Obama hulking out, as he prepares for the upcoming election by saying "You vote for me or OBAMA SMASH!"

Characters Drawn By Edwin Vazquez Look Like Total Drips

With a soggy and totally psychedelic style to his character renditions, it's no wonder that Edwin Vazquez and his eye catching artworks have become a popular part of publications such as MAD magazine and Bongo Comics. Trip out on the drips, and some sweet tattoo inspired pieces, at the links below.

Custom Elder Scrolls Daedric Sword Looks Pretty Sharp

The craftsman known as Evil FX has a very ambitious, and geeky, goal when he hits his workshop-to create a full suit costume of Daedric style armor from the Elder Scrolls video game series. Here's how he made it:

..he is starting out with a pretty cool Daedric sword as a "test build." The one-handed sword was constructed out of heavily dremeled EVA sheet foam which is apparently perfect "for carrying around all day at conventions and passing all con/customs weapon policies."

Pretty slick for sheet foam, eh?! If you're interested there's a video showing the process at the link, otherwise thanks for stopping by!

Gameplay Trailer For Upcoming Doctor Who Video Game

(YouTube Link)

This is the first trailer for the upcoming Doctor Who video game The Eternity Clock that shows gameplay, and it seems the game will be combining old school platformer elements with third person action and super cinematic cutscenes.

Starring the Eleventh Doctor, River Song, Amy Pond and just about every major enemy from the last few seasons of the show, this game is definitely going for an epic level look, but I feel like the fun in gameplay variety might get sucked out by frustrating platforming puzzles and too many cutscenes. After watching the video, what do you guys think about this game?

DC Launches Charity Campaign Fronted By Justice League

DC Comics has been making some ambitious moves lately, from a logo re-design to a 52 title relaunch, but their newest move should prove to be most heroic-a charity called We Can Be Heroes which will raise money to benefit humanitarian efforts in Africa. Here's the dollars and cents of it all:

Donations of any amount made at the We Can Be Heroes site will reportedly be matched by DC Entertainment 100 percent, with 50 percent of branded "We Can Be Heroes" online merchandise sales being donated to the fund (unless you buy in Maine, Massachusetts and Alabama). Between these and other efforts, DC says that its three WCBH partners will receive a combined total of at least $2 million over the next two years.

Caped superfolks in print are fine, but stepping up to the plate and making a difference in the real world is truly noble indeed!

Laurent Craste Puts A Hurting On Some Porcelain

Laurent Craste has a serious problem with porcelain, and his knowledge of ceramics allows him to put a hurting on delicate pieces without letting them fall to pieces.

Warped and imaginative, he has come up with some great ways to bend porcelain to his will, and I wondered "how did he do that without cracking it?" many times as I checked out his site. Take a look for yourself, and see if you have any pity for porcelain.
