Full face makeup can fully transform an average human into an alien creature, monster or robot, but this transformation comes at a price- and it's the dialog that pays in the end.
Mumbled, butchered and muttered incoherently, these lines of dialog lose all weight when the actor saying them can't even move their lips under all that makeup.
And yet it's still better than those wacky overdubs they used to do back in the 60s and 70s! (NSFW due to language)
Some musicians become really good at playing by practicing their instrument for years, if not decades, until their skills are perfectly polished, but cellist Yo-Yo Ma was born talented.
In fact, his immense talent earned him a spot playing for John F. Kennedy, among others, at The American Pageant of the Arts back in 1962- when he was just 7 years old.
Yo-Yo took the stage with his sister Yeou-Cheng Ma at the show which was emceed by Leonard Bernstein, who introduced Yo-Yo and Yeou-Cheng with this speech that makes me long for more welcoming days in America:
That double stream of art I mentioned earlier flowing into and out of America has long been the attraction of our country to foreign artists and scientists and thinkers who have come not only to visit us, but often to join us as Americans. To become citizens of what to us has historically been the land of opportunity and to others the land of freedom. And in this great tradition there has come to us this year a young man aged seven bearing the name Yo-Yo Ma.
Johnny Depp did a great job of capturing Hunter S. Thompson's manic spirit in Fear And Loathing In Las Vegas, but nothing captured the feeling of being on a suitcase full of drugs like the poster art.
That image of Hunter's head floating away from his body, the lenses of his sunglasses full of highway streaks, really brought that drug-fueled freak out feeling to life.
Kevin created this slightly larger-than-life bust with the goal of bringing the hallucinatory artwork into the real world just as it appears on the poster, from the streaks to the stubble to the cig holder clenched between his teeth.
Kevin's sculpture is so lifelike it made this shot look unintentionally hilarious!

When people make a cake to bring to an event it usually falls into one of three categories- sheet cake, cheesecake, or some sort of carrot or fruit cake with a twist they saw on Pinterest.
These are all fine and delicious cakes to bring to an event, but what if you want to bring a dessert that knocks their socks off and makes you look like a cake genius?

Then you need to make this magical three layer custard cake and pretend you're the inventor of the latest trendy dessert.
The magic custard cake is a miracle of dessert science, created using a normal batter which is baked at a low temperature so the batter has time to separate into layers as it bakes. It's ooey gooey genius!
Queen Elizabeth is a class act, and she always manages to look suitably sophisticated when she attends an event, her outfits almost always including a hat and a Launer purse.
The hat is there for flair, but the Queen uses her purse as more than just a place for her lipstick and mint lozenges- she uses it to silently signal her staff.
If the Queen moves her purse from one hand to the other while talking to someone that means she's "ready to wrap up her current conversation", at which point the person will be discreetly led away.
When the Queen puts her purse on the table at dinner it means she wants the event to end in five minutes, while putting her bag on the floor means she wants to be rescued from her current conversation.
But the most urgent gesture of them all is the spinning of her ring, which signals to her staff that the Queen needs to be rescued immediately. She really needs to invest in a ring of invisibility!
Some pet owners seem to know little to nothing about which foods their dog can eat and which ones will make their pup feel ill, so they feed them random foods without a second thought.
And unless their dog becomes so ill they need to go to the vet they don't make the connection between these random foods and the fact that their dog always has an upset stomach.
So if you want to know what your dog can and cannot eat and avoid giving them a gut ache then this "Can My Dog Eat That?" infographic put together by Here Pup! is a perfect primer.
We all know Bruce Wayne gets along famously with the ladies, and Clark Kent was able to woo Lois Lane despite the bumbling farmboy bit, and both Batman and Superman have dated Wonder Woman.
But which one would the ideal human life partner prefer to be with?
She might start to lean towards Batman thanks to his bad boy side but then get stiffed on the bill one too many times, leaving her with a bad bat-taste in her mouth.
On the other hand ol' Supes can be supes corny at times, which is a turn off to the sophisticated women who live in Metropolis. Then again, the Bat has some creepy skeletons in his closet...
Comic artist JHALL created this comparison comic to settle the debate once and for all, and it looks like the only thing they have in common is that nobody they date will ever have to meet their parents...
Geeks were once stuck in libraries, movie theaters and comic book stores, since the cool kids were always picking on them, but now geeks are the cool kids for a new and more accepting generation.
Which is why businesses cater to geeky tastes like never before, and since geeks like to drink gloriously geeky bars with pop culture themes have started popping up all over the United States.
When we're young our parents tell us not to play with our food, but for an artsy few disregarding this direct order leads to great things as they become full blown food artists.
Japanese artist Gaku is certainly going places thanks to the success of his artfully carved fruit and vegetable pieces on social media, and his skills are second to none.

Gaku's mukimono masterpieces are full of fine details that often seem impossibly sharp given the softness of the medium, but after years of playing with his food Gaku makes the impossible seem easy to swallow.
Parents and teachers cherish artwork created by kids, and what kids choose to draw gives us a glimpse into their lives and helps gauge their mental state, since kids have no filter when they're creating art.
"My class of kindergartners were drawing pictures to put in a care package for deployed troops. Well, one girl, yuno (yes, I know who yuno is. Yes, here parents do too. Yes, that was intentional), drew a picture of a family crying over a tombstone with a caption saying 'don't feel bad, it's almost over'. Holy h*ll kid. I almost put it in for humor, but I decided to put it on 'the wall of little horrors'."-via Secretly_psycho
However, it can be really hard to look at a kid with a straight face when they hand you a creepy crayon masterpiece, especially after they explain the meaning behind it:
"I teach English to Japanese kids. Text book had them draw their ideal pet. A 10 year old drew a human chained up in a cage, with an electric shock box attached to them with wires. Taught him for a few more years until he graduated from my class to junior high school, he had really matured into a sweet charming boy by then. Or he was a psychopath who had mastered the skill of manipulating those around him." -via karlamarxist
But sometimes they use their creepy art to tell an equally creepy story that's hard for them to tell otherwise:
During draw and tell one boy held up a page with just red and yellow scribbled all over. The other children started laughing and I shushed them down and then the kid spoke up;
This is a drawing of the fire my parents left me in when they ran out the house. -via Takbeir
Most cats spend their lives searching for new sources of stimulation, and what we refer to as curiosity they see as part of their quest to explore and discover all this world has to offer.
Along the way cats learn the benefits of fast travel (on their human's shoulders), power-ups like catnip, and the joy of creating save points all over the house.
Illustrator Anna-Maria Jung and Andrew Bridgman created this strip so we can get hip to the game of life cats are playing on a daily basis, see if you can tell when your cat gains enough XP to go up a level!
The world has been wonderin' what ever became of that rummy rattlebones Jack Sparrow, since he was left high and dry on the dock, but that mystery is about to be solved- because Jack has resurfaced looking none the worse for wear. It seems that old scallywag got tied up in Polynesia after he tried to take off with a golden statue of the god Maui, and would have been burned at the stake had a mako man not chosen that moment to attack the tribe...

She was born with perfect taste, and at times it seemed like her life had been shaped and guided by her tastebuds, but she learned early on that taste isn't everything. There must also be vision, and grit, and of course the almighty love, which she had in abundance, but most of all there must be wonder, because mystery is the spice of life. Sometimes love stinks, that's just a basic fact of life. And sometimes love can leave you feeling queasy and nauseous, which is a rarer symptom of love yet no less normal, but a love that's deadly is a love to be avoided at all cost. Which is why nobody wants to get romantically involved with a Koffing trainer- they're sneaky, gassy and heavy smokers, and anybody who hooks up with them is risking death by suffocation. So if you're looking for love in all the wrong zones stick to pocket monster trainers who catch cute critters- because Koffing kills!
