(YouTube Link)

If you remember the crazy Crossfire game commercials from the 1990's, then this commercial parody will bring back memories, and hopefully elicit a chuckle. If you were too young, or old, to have seen the original commercial don't worry, I've included the link below. And even if you don't think the Crossfire in real life element is funny, check out to the sweet glam metal band Steel Panther as they rock the parking lot! Dodging giant steel balls is so f%@ng metal!

Take A Tour Of Modern Bionics With The Eyeborg

The man calling himself the Eyeborg has put together a short documentary detailing modern bionics and cutting edge prosthetics, part of which was filmed using his eye camera.

Rob Spence lost his eye in a firearm accident a few years back, but the filmmaker refused to stop doing what he loved, so he had a prosthetic eye camera specially designed, and thus became the first person to have a implanted camera replace their eye.

Square Enix are Rob's newest sponsors, and they have commissioned him to make a video that compares modern prosthetics and bionics to the bodily enhancements found in the new game Deus Ex: Human Revolution.

Follow either of the links below and check out this amazing, cutting edge video by the first bionic cameraman, and see how medical science is quickly catching up to science fiction.

The Least Powerful DC Superheroes Ever

These characters aren't going to be kicking anyone's butt in battle, unless they find a way to use their cuteness as a weapon. Illustrator Ivan Camelo has taken our favorite musclebound DC heroes and turned them into diminutive, bubbly and shiny little cuties that look like they belong an alternate DC/Sanrio Universe alongside Hello Kitty and Keroppi. It's good to see that even though Batman and Superman have lost their muscles, their incredibly square chins weren't lost in translation. You can see more at ComicsAlliance, but beware: drawings this sweet may rot your teeth.

When Geodesic Domes Were All The Rage

It's hard to believe that people once thought we'd all be living in domes by the year 2000, but this delightful retro article from Popular Science confirms that the future is a lot squarer than people in the 60s and 70s thought it would be. The geodesic dome was the brainchild of R. Buckminster Fuller, who felt that the simplicity of design and ease with which it could be built would catch on like wildfire across the country, and claimed rather ambitiously that it could replace all manner of traditional housing. However, Fuller hadn't taken the cost of repairs into consideration, nor the problems that would be encountered bringing the dome up to code, and the awkward shape of the panels made replacing them a real pain, so the geodesic dome fad fell along the wayside, becoming nothing more than a vision of the future that was never meant to be. If you want to read more about the "dome of the future", follow the link to PopSci, where you'll find lots more info, and pages from past Popular Science articles detailing the rise and fall of the housing dome fad.

Scientist And Artist Create Bulletproof Skin Out Of Woven Silk

Artists often come up with concepts and ideas that require help to reach the light of day, and whenever an artist teams up with a scientist the unlikely duo is most likely on the verge of making an incredible discovery. Case and point-the collaboration between Dutch artist Jalila Essaidi and Utah State researcher Randy Lewis has resulted in a bulletproof, skin-like material that has been fabricated from silk threads produced by a genetically modified silk worm. And the ultimate point of this exercise in left brain/right brain cooperation? To someday create a synthetic human skin and artificial tendons and ligaments. Portal Fan Film Is Quite Good Actually

(YouTube Link)

When the term Fan Film is used to describe what you're about to watch, you normally don't expect much from the film or the maker.  This film, entitled Portal: No Escape is unlike any fan film i've ever seen, because it's downright quality-looks good, well written, stylish and entertaining throughout.  No Escape should definitely raise the bar for future fan films, and I would love to see this film, and quality fan films like it, turned into YouTube mini series one day. Why is it that this short film rocks and most big budget video game movies are terrible? I guess Hollywood needs to hire more fans to help make their films!
