The Science Behind Jack White's Newest Music Video

(Video Link)

Jack White is a musical mastermind who puts a lot of mental energy into the songs he creates, but there’s a whole ‘nother level of deep thought going on in his latest video for his song High Ball Stepper.

This visually mesmerizing video has a whole lotta science goin’ on, including a non-newtonian fluid dynamically dancing on a vibrating speaker cone in a most appealing manner, and the awesome look of sand forming patterns on top of a vibrating Chladni plate.

Want to find out what the heck this all means? Check out this fascinating article about The Science Behind Jack White’s Amazing New Music Video over at io9 and get hip to the scientific jive.

Incredibly Realistic Sculpture Carved From A Single Block Of Wood

Creating highly detailed sculptures, with realistic fluid shapes and organic contours, out of wood is a feat in itself, but when you create each individual work out of one single piece of wood you’ve got some serious wood carving skills!

Stefanie Rocknak is one of these extremely talented wood carvers, and the beauty of her single block sculpture is not just in the execution, but the elegant simplicity and retention of the basswood's natural grain pattern as well.

The figure looks like he’s really splashing through a wooden wave, with face turned in mid-breath and a hand so realistic it even has creases in the palms.

Dancing From A To Z

(Video Link)

You don’t have to be a good speller to bust a move on the dance floor, and those who enjoy shakin' their thang spell their favorite style of dance out one step at a time.

Diesel clothing, in association with i-D Magazine, decided to explore dancing from A to Z for their unique project, and even if you weren’t impressed with my attempt to correlate the alphabet with the world of dance you’re sure to be blown away by dancers Lil Buck, Nicole the Pole and the Soul Step team as they get down in this lively video.

South Korean Plastic Surgeons Are Too Good At Their Job

People who get plastic surgery claim they do it to better themselves, making themselves look and feel better, but plastic surgery can also complicate your life and make it hard to re-enter your home country when your new face doesn't match the one in your passport photo.

Women heading from China and Japan to South Korea in order to undergo extensive plastic surgery are finding the operations so successful that customs agents don't believe they're the same person.

It has become such a problem that some Korean hospitals are now issuing "plastic surgery certificates" to their patients so they can go home again.

From the look of this lady's incredible transformation I can see why customs agents are having a hard time believing they're the same person!

Hot Topic Unveils Fashion Line Inspired By Maleficent

Maleficent is definitely one of the most stylish Disney villains, and Hot Topic is a company that caters to those who choose to live on the fringe of society, people who have a lot in common with cartoon villains.

Now the two dark forces are teaming up to bring Maleficent inspired fashion designs to the teens and tweens of the world, aka villains-in-training.

Hot Topic shoppers are sure to love this decidedly dark clothing line, not to mention the geek creds bestowed upon them by the Maleficent tie-in, and even though the gals who don this wicked wardrobe will appear to have a dark side, their only dark secrets are that they all have a Disney princess dress hanging in their closet!

(Video Link)

Do you have a plethora of Peeps sitting around your house after Easter? You should send them to the guy in this video, he devours them by the dozens!

His name is Matt “Megatoad” Stonie and he is a Peeps devouring machine, seizing the world record for fastest Peeps eater ever by scarfing down 100 cute little marshmallow birds in less than two minutes.

German Man Creates Spider-Man Inspired Laser-Guided Web-Shooters

(Video Link)

Spider-Man's web swinging exploits are legendary among comic book fans and those introduced to the friendly neighborhood superhero by the new movies, so it’s no wonder people want to be like him. Spidey’s most iconic accessory is his signature web blasters, and many people have tried to make their own web slingers to little or no avail.

Patrick Priebe, who Gizmag describes as a “German laser weapons hobbyist”, created a deadly cool, and very functional pair of Spidey inspired web-shooters, only his creation doesn’t shoot webs- it shoots a laser-guided harpoon.

It’s a very useful device for killing and snaring prey from far away, but won’t help Marvel’s wise cracking webhead bag the bad guys…unless the bag in question is a body bag!

The Scariest Inanimate Objects In Movie History

Inanimate objects have been imbued with a sinister energy thanks to the horror genre, and some of the scariest stories and movies of all time involve characters being terrorized by inanimate objects such as creepy dolls, haunted TV sets and mirrors that trap people’s souls.

Here’s a collection of the most terrifying inanimate objects in movie history, three of which are Stephen King’s creations, and although it’s far from exhaustive the collection of movies chosen for this list would make for a really fun movie marathon!

Vintage Advertisements Get A Pop Music Makeover

Artist David Redon discovered a fun way to update vintage advertising posters and give them a modern pop culture makeover- he replaced the original subjects with famous musicians.

Redon is the art director for Quai Des Orfevres ad agency in Paris, and the simplicity of each piece as well as the vintage colors are what make his updated posters really work. Snoop Dogg in a gin ad? Fo shizzle.

Nirvana frontman Kurt Cobain selling soft serve? Smells like a winner. But Kanye taking the place of Rosie the Riveter? Now that's what I call taking this musical mashup too far!

This Piano Playing Nun Is A Total Drag

(Video Link)

Unless you work in a piano bar, or a department store with its own eleganly dressed tickler of ivories, you’re probably not getting enough piano music in your life. Whether it’s ragtime, smooth jazz, techno or classical, piano music is the key to a healthy musical love life.

The nunny fellow in this video knows the importance of the piano, and its kooky younger cousin the organ, and he’s in the habit of rolling around town sharing his piano-mania with whoever doesn’t run away from him in horror.

He's a man of the cloth about town, and he's about to become the first drag performer to get a DUI while operating a motorized piano!

A Collection Of Vintage Public Health Posters

Public health posters are used to spread awareness about issues such as sexually transmitted diseases, how to identify health issues in advance and the latest treatment trends.

They’re a helpful and necessary part of the public health care system, and they're quite effective at spreading the word, but something about these posters makes them come off as creepy.

Maybe it's the myriad of maladies present, maybe it's the disturbing artwork meant to scare people into caring, or maybe it's the fact that people need to be told "Don't Sleep In Rat Infested Houses".

Whatever the case viewing these vintage public health posters may result in a feeling of unease and a mild case of hypochondria!

Butterfly Street Art Project - Swarm The World

Street art comes in all kinds of different shapes and sizes, but the most dynamic evolution of outlaw art is the introduction of dynamic mediums beyond paintings, posters or stencils.

Yarn bombing, sculptural installations, and tile pixel art have all taken street art to new places and helped it reach new audiences, and now artist Tasha Lewis has begun a new project that will bring a bit of wonder to the world- by decorating public places with throngs of blue butterflies.

She calls the project "Swarm The World," and she has made over 4,000 magnetic butterflies to both put up herself and send to folks across the globe, so they can bring a bit of monochromatic insect life to their concrete jungle.

Beware The Claw Machine, For It Craves Children!

(Video Link)

Kids and claw machines- what was once a novelty grade emergency has become an epidemic. Across the globe unsuspecting children are being swallowed up by ravenous claw machines no longer satisfied with mere quarters.

Claw machines have developed a rather unusual trait for snaring their young prey- they present the toy which the child desires most of all inside their bellies, then leave their prize hatch unlocked so the curious child can climb in after the shiny new toy.

Once the child is inside the machine begins to slowly digest the child using plush toys as makeshift stomach acid molecules, but since this process can take months most children are saved from the claw machine's evil clutches.

The child in this video was one of the lucky ones, but can your child resist the allure of the claw machine?

Something's Not Right About These PS2 Games

(Images Via azjabar)

Gamers don’t always purchase games based on the look of the cover art, especially if they already know what to expect when they bring the game home, but the crazy cover art on these pirated Playstation 2 games spotted by Imgur user azjabar in an Iraqi market might make someone think twice before buying.

The pirate photoshop (ms paint?) jockeys who created these incredibly bad covers weren’t looking to impress gamers with their glorious graphic design skills, but the fact that they don’t even bother to find out what the games are actually called, and at least attempt to imitate the original cover, makes them look even more bootleg than most bootlegs!
