Young Mr. Potter was instantly enraptured by those superheroic tales, and he began to wonder if there was some sort of potion that would imbue him with the powers of his favorite heroes, so he went searching for a super powered brew. Long Lost H.P. Lovecraft Manuscript Discovered In Magic Shop Collection

The weird horror stories written by H.P. Lovecraft were largely unappreciated while he was alive, but nowadays they're a geeky fan favorite and serve as inspiration for comics, games and toys of all kind.

But one thing Lovecraft fans weren't expecting to hear about some eighty years after Howard's death is a long lost manuscript, especially one Lovecraft had ghostwritten for Harry Houdini.

[ image could not be processed - please retry - src was http://www.neatorama.com/plugin/ajaximgupload/previewimg/visimgupload-1/1459330961?u=0.70 ]/>The Cancer Of Superstition was part of a memorabilia collection discovered in a magic shop, which seems like a very appropriate place to stash a Lovecraft manuscript, but this one's different than his other written works.

For this essay was written as a diatribe against spiritualism and superstition, and even though it has been in various collections since Houdini;s passing the essay's significance was only recently understood:

The collection bounced around after Beatrice Houdini’s death in 1943 and was never truly catalogued or ‘mined’ in all that time. The papers were never researched or inventoried,” said Potter & Potter president Gabe Fajuri. “In all that time, no one seemed to realise the significance of the manuscript.”

Fajuri said the collection was recently bought privately, and when “the new owner began sorting through the mountain of paperwork, he began putting the pieces together, and in the process discovered the manuscript and its significance”

Ridiculous Construction Fails That Defeat The Whole Purpose

A blueprint is only as good as the person following the instructions, but even the most experienced builder can have an off day, and when nothing seems to be going right workers will often pack it in before the project is complete.

But when those workers had one simple task to complete and couldn't even get that right they should probably start seeking employment in another field.

Sometimes bad work comes off like a cry for help, because when the work you do seems to indicate you've been drinking heavily on the job site there's nowhere left for you to go but straight to an AA meeting!

Gorgeous And Gruesome Paintings By Lauren Marx

Birth and death are integral parts of life on Earth, and even though many animal lovers don't want to admit or accept it animals are born killers and raised for survival by Mother Nature.

Artists who choose to focus on natural themes generally try to keep their works lighthearted and full of positivity, thinking that's what their fellow animal lovers would want, but that's not always true.

As a lifelong adorer of animals I prefer the morbid realism running rampant through the "The American Wilderness" series of paintings of Lauren Marx, representing the balance of life and death in nature better than sappy critter art ever could.

Lauren's works are a perfect blend of grotesque and beautiful, dark death motifs coupled with the bright and vibrant colors of new life as the circle continues ad infinitum.

Sixteen Facts You May Not Know About Cheetos

Cheetos may not be the most appealing looking snack foods, but their deliciousness, ease of oral delivery and satisfying crunch make them one of the most beloved snack foods in the world.

Whether you like them crunchy, flaming hot or funny shaped you can find Cheetos in 22 countries around the world, and there are more than 50 funky flavors out there including peanut butter, Pepsi and Japanese steak.

But if you're a fan of the flaming hot varieties that have become quite popular over the years you owe former Frito-Lay janitor Richard Montañez a word of thanks for coming up with the flavor.

Armed with a sample bag and some marketing studies he talked his way into a meeting with the CEO and brought the heat to everybody's favorite cheesy treat.

These Crazy Haircuts Are Either Terrible Or The Future Of Cool

Bad haircuts are the unrelenting foes we encounter in our quest to reinvent ourselves by radically changing our look, catching us completely by surprise and forever changing our personal sense of style.

In fact, some hairstyles are so bad the poor soul who has fallen victim to the scissors and electric razor might be better off shaving their head and letting it grow out again from the ground floor.

Everyone has a horrible haircut tale to tell, but the measure of a hero is their ability to bounce back from a bad look and become a hirsute hero, inspiring future generations to take chances with their hairdos.

This guy took a chance and shaved the side of his head while keeping the rest long, never knowing that he was sporting the Skrillex hairstyle before it was cool.

The Many Lies Told By Joe Isuzu

There was once a bold faced liar named Joe Isuzu who starred in car commercials from 1986 to 1990, a character meant to make buyers trust Isuzu by reminding them how sleazy some car dealers can be.

Joe was played by comic actor David Leisure, a guy who really seemed to embody the role, and even though the commercials were ironic their effect on 80s pop culture was for real.

As a young comedy geek I loved repeating Joe Isuzu lines in the schoolyard, and even though Isuzu dealerships feared poking fun at their salespeople was the wrong way to go sales spiked when Joe's ads hit the airwaves.

Mario Kart Racing Makes The Leap Into Real Life

Mario and Luigi would look really strange in real life, and their frantic Kart racing sessions would look even stranger considering all the banana peels, winged turtle shells and Bullet Bills flying around the track.

But colorful madcap silliness is the name of the game, so when wacky people decide to reenact Mario Kart in real life you can bet the whole thing is going to be an utterly ridiculous affair.

A group of friends from Belleville, Michigan who call themselves the Nothing To Do Crew decided to stage a backyard version of Mario Kart that included roman candles to shoot at balloons and banana peels to slip on.

(YouTube Link)

Not to be outdone, another group of merry pranksters called Base37 decided to take their Mario Kart remake to the streets, and wound up racing through a Westfield shopping mall in London on their zippy little motorized karts.

The Base37 team encountered many shopper shaped obstacles on the track, but they're all experienced racers so they didn't wipe out or get snagged by security, escaping to race another day.

J.K. Rowling Shares Her Rejection Letters To Inspire Young Authors

(Image Link)

Receiving rejection letters is par for the course when you're trying to become a published author, but if everyone who ever received a rejection letter gave up the world would be devoid of print media.

The trick is to try and try again until a publisher is willing to take a chance on you, either that or get an agent who won't take no for an answer.

JK Rowling took to Twitter to share some of the rejection letters she received under her pen name Robert Galbraith received before the Detective Cormoran series made it into print.

The letters are a little hard to read but the message is clear- don't give up on your novelist dreams until you've literally run out of publishers, then self publish the books and move on!

Marvel's Infinity Gauntlet Storyline Explained In Three Minutes

The Marvel movies are bringing a whole new fan base to the theaters to watch the superheroic spectacle- people who don't read comic books.

They may not know every character's backstory, or how the storyline connects to the rest of the Marvel universe, but that doesn't make those spectacular films any less enjoyable to watch.

But any of the uninitiated who want to get caught up before new Marvel movies involving the Infinity Gauntlet storyline come out should watch this hilarious animated episode of Bite-Sized Comics by Noah Sterling and get hip to that Thanos jive!

Bruce Campbell Knows How To Improve Batman V Superman

(Image Link)

Batman V Superman met with such harsh reviews that Ben Affleck actually got bummed out about the reviews during an interview, spawning the Sad Affleck meme.

It's going to take more than sympathetic viewers and a slew of new reviews to pull BVS out of the bog, but Bruce Campbell knows what that superhero flick is missing- Ash from the Evil Dead.

Bruce proposed to save the film by boomstick and chainsaw by posting this movie poster mock-up for Ash vs Batman vs Superman: Dead by Dawn of Justice with the jab "Guys, need any help?"

But adding Bruce to the film simply wouldn't be fair, because he would outshine both Affleck and Cavill in a major way!

Animator Rediscovers His Love Of The Craft With 100 Days Of Walk Cycles

Animation is an artform that one may never truly master, and many animators spend decades of their lives working at their craft and improving their skills.

But all the non-art related things we have to do in our lives tend to get in the way of working on our art, and an animator's passion for their craft can be diminished by all the hours spent at their day jobs.

Animator turned front end developer JustGoscha knows full well how life can get in the way of art, but he came up with a clever way to get back in the game- creating a hand drawn walk cycle a day for 100 days.

(Vimeo Link)

Walk cycles are one of the hardest elements of traditional animation to master, but it must have been even harder to come up with so many different examples, way to strut your creative stuff JustGoscha!

Awesome Disney Paintings By Heather Theurer

Disney Animation Studios used to employ the most talented artists in the world, but these days Disney likes to bring in talent from outside the Studio pool to share their unique vision of the Disney characters we know and love.

Heather Theurer is one of these talented indie artists who was given the chance to do Disney her way, and the paintings she has created of Alice, Peter Pan and Ariel are nothing short of brilliant.

With plenty of classical influence, modern character design aesthetics and emotional depth to be found in each piece Heather's works are sure to appeal to young and old classic Disney fans alike.
