Map Shows Where Modern Countries Would Be Located On Pangea

(Image Link)

International borders are man made constructs, lines drawn in the dirt which are easy to ignore until a nation's police force cracks your head open for stepping over the line.

And to make matters even more confusing these borders are constantly changing thanks to international conflicts and government expansion.

But you know what would make that whole international border thang even more confusing? If these invisible lines were drawn on the supercontinent of Pangea.

The geography lovin' folks at Open Culture created this map a few years back showing Where Today's Countries Would Be Located On Pangea after they had a strange dream about Argentina making out with South Africa. *shivers*

Unflattering Cat Selfies Are The Future Of Feline Social Media

It's pretty easy for house pets to take flattering selfies considering they're so darn cute, but the internet is already full of cute animal pics and the virtual world is becoming bored with beauty.

So what does the future of pet social media posts look like? Probably something like this:

The selfies cats are posting to the Unflattering Cat Selfies Tumblr are so much better than those posed and filtered pics you see on everybody's Instagram pages these days.

And if cats, the vainest and most superficial of all pets, can laugh at themselves by posting unflattering pics online can the rest of the selfie kings and queens be very far behind?

Line Cooks Share Tips And Tricks Every Home Chef Should Know

Being a line cook may not be the most glamorous job in the kitchen, and they may do most of the work for little glory, but their on-the-job training makes them superhuman cooking machines.

Thrillist asked line cooks across the country to share their tips and tricks with the folks at home and their replies came out just right.

There are basic tips: only flip your steak or burger once while cooking to lock in flavor, always start with the dish that takes the longest to cook, and save time by microwaving potatoes.

And tricks that make life easier: use a ladle to perfectly poach an egg, always boil eggs in salt water so the shells peel easier, and use Tupperware lids to slice multiple cherry tomatoes or grapes in half fast.

Disney Artist Adds Classic Characters To Iconic Japanese Images

Nowadays it's really easy to tell the difference between worthwhile Disney themed fan art and the stuff that belongs in the trash bin, and generally that worthwhile or not decision is based on originality.

Shocked

We've seen “Disney princesses as...” to death, and enough “Disney animal characters as humans” to fill a people zoo, but I can't recall seeing fan art as cool as the works of Instagram user johnram27 in a long time.

To be fair, johnram27 is a fan and a Disney story artist/theme park designer, so his “fan art” is naturally going to be a cut above the rest.

But his clever placement of classic Disney characters in quintessentially Japanese

Celebrate Prince's Life By Partying To His Personal Party Playlist

Anyone who is thinking about having a Prince memorial party and celebrating his musical legacy by playing Prince songs all night should know that's the wrong way to go.

Because if you want to celebrate Prince the right way you've gotta party like Prince by playing his party playlist, along with your favorite Prince jams, of course.

Prince sent his ultra funky playlist to the producers of Fox's New Girl before his guest appearance on the show back in 2013, but now that Prince has gone to where all the Purple Rain comes from his playlist belongs to the people:

“City in the Sky,” The Staple Singers
“Country John,” Allen Toussaint
“Fire,” Ohio Players
“Happy House,” Shuggie Otis
“Higher Ground,” Stevie Wonder
“I Was Made to Love Him,” Chaka Khan
“Listen to the Music,” The Isley Brothers
“The Lord is Back,” Eugene McDaniels
“Lost in Music,” Sister Sledge
“The Pinocchio Theory,” Bootsy Collins
“Rubber Duckie,” Bootsy Collins
“Rumpofsteelskin,” Parliament
“Skin Tight,” Ohio Players
“We’re Gettin’ Too Close,” The Soul Children
“Wild and Free,” Curtis Mayfield
“After The Love Has Gone,” Earth, Wind & Fire
“Back in Baby’s Arms,” Allen Toussaint
“Don’t Let Me Be Lonely Tonight,” The Isley Brothers
“Don’t Take My Sunshine,” The Soul Children
“How Could I Let You Get Away,” The Spinners
“I’ll Be Around,” The Spinners
“Push Me Away,” The Jacksons
“Stay With Me,” Shirley Brown
“The Thrill Is Gone,” Aretha Franklin

Dad Buys Tampons For Daughter, Makes Whole Thing Awkward Via Text

Young girls understandably freak out a bit when they start having their period, and they freak out even more if they have to turn to their dad for help instead of their mother.

And dads, for obvious reasons, freak out when their daughters come to them with this problem for the first time, since they have no experience with menstruation and such.

That's why most guys try to take it easy on their kids and be as helpful and accommodating as possible without losing their cool, but some dads just can't resist the urge to toy with their kids.

But young Tia Savva has the kind of dad who is always willing to help and almost always makes people regret asking him for help because he's such a brat.

He headed to the store to buy some sanitary napkins for his daughter and nearly sent her into conniptions with all his crazy questions!

31 Rolls Of Film From World War II Finally Developed 70 Years Later

There are so many ways a roll of film can get ruined before (and sometimes while) being developed that shooting with film often felt like a gamble, especially when shooting historical moments in time.

So it must take some kind of magical luck or divine intervention for 31 rolls of film to survive World War II in a soldier's bag and then manage to survive another 70 years intact before being developed by The Rescued Film Project.

Architectural Concept Art For The Hurricane Proof Homes Of The Future

Every time a major hurricane sweeps through a coastal region people are left homeless, their homes reduced to a pile of rubble by those incredibly strong winds.

This is seen as an inevitable part of life in places where hurricanes are a constant threat , but Spanish designer Dionisio Gonzales thinks there may be a way to prevent destruction by rethinking the structure.

Hopefully Dionisio's designs for the hurricane proof homes of the future will inspire architects and builders to stop accepting destruction and start building homes that can withstand the weather.

The History Of Pizza Told In Eight Slices

Tracing the history of pizza back to its earliest roots is virtually impossible, since ancient people often used bread as a plate and therefore probably ate something similar to the modern pizza.

But when did the pizza pie we know and love come out of the oven, and how did that flat “plate” of dough covered in cheese and toppings become the single most popular food in the world?

(YouTube Link)

The PBS Idea Channel's Mike Rugnetta serves up the sizzling history of the pizza one slice of info at a time, and after your brain eats up all eight slices you'll feel full...of knowledge about the pie that conquered the world!

Drug Users In Pakistan Are Smoking Scorpions To Get High

(Image Link)

It has been proven time and again that strict drug laws lead to people doing whatever kind of strange drug they can get their hands on, typically something concocted in a home lab by an unscrupulous individual.

In fact, outlawing drugs often leads to higher rates of consumption, or in the case of the Middle East finding strange new substances to get high on, like the dried out carcass of a poisonous scorpion.

Drug users in Pakistan and Afghanistan are recreationally smoking scorpions, which causes a hallucinatory high that's stronger than most psychedelic drugs, and the addiction is harder to kick than opium and heroin combined.

Medical experts say the worst part about smoking scorpions is the effect the venom has on the brain, where it can cause permanent delusion, and the nervous system, which is often permanently damaged by the "drug".
