Wife Finds Note From Dead Husband Written Under Workbench He Made For Her

(Image Link)

When we write our loved ones a letter meant to be read after we die we're usually just trying to put our feelings into words whether the letter is ever read or not.

Many of these love letters end up squirreled away in a box somewhere or similarly hidden from sight, so when a letter is found after the loved one has passed away it feels like a minor miracle.

The touching story shared by an Imgur user about a love letter found after his dad's death sounds more like a major miracle- because the letter was written on the underside of a workbench he'd built for his wife.

The letter reads:

"I love you Becca. Whatever day this is, I hope it's a good one. God truly answered my prayers the day he gave me you. I know that these days are the best I'll ever have, and I'm glad you're in them. I'm not sure if you'll ever see this, but if you do, just know that I love you very much. If there is one thing want in life, it is to be as good to you as you are to me. If I can do that, I'll be the happiest man alive. - I love you beautiful wife. - Mason

Freeway Skateboarding Is Becoming A Trend In California

Skateboarding is an integral part of the Southern California lifestyle for many, which makes sense considering SoCal natives grow up in a place where virtually everyone surfs, bikes and skates.

That's why the latest trends in skateboarding typically start in California, but here's hoping the dangerous new trend of freeway skateboarding doesn't catch on.

(YouTube Link)

The video above was uploaded over five years ago and is considered the inspiration for the current #FreewayChallenge trend, but the cars were stopped in that video.

Nowadays the videos posted online show these foolishly brave freeway skaters jumping out of cars on crowded freeways during rush hour, grabbing bumpers and weaving through traffic on their board.

(YouTube Link)

The California Highway Patrol is worried more kids will want to try freeway skating and get killed for a bit of fun, which is why they're scanning social media for freeway skating videos and making arrests.

"Sk8 Or Die!" is just a silly slogan, guys, and not a suggestion on how to live your life!

A Funny Visual Guide To The Dos And Don'ts Of Eating Sushi

Sushi is mainstream cuisine these days, and yet dining at a sushi restaurant feels a lot more rigid and ceremonial than grabbing a burger at the neighborhood diner.

Even those of us who consider ourselves old sushi pros know we're breaking all kinds of rules when we eat those raw fish rolls our way, namely dipped in a mixture of wasabi and soy sauce with a bunch of ginger slices on top.

The traditional sushi set in Japan see ginger as a palate cleanser, to be eaten between types of sushi not on top of rolls, and drowning rolls in soy sauce is seen as a sin by sushi chefs.

The folks at The Bold Italic headed to Ichi Sushi, one of San Francisco's best sushi bars, to get the skinny on the do's and don'ts of eating sushi.

This funny visual lesson may not change the way you eat sushi, but it will give you a good idea of why the sushi chefs keep glaring at you while you eat!

Wild Photos From Inside Walt Disney World's Abandoned Water Park

When Disney theme parks do well they show their success by improving the park and building new attractions, but when a Disney park fails it fails spectacularly and leaves the colorful corpse to prove it.

Wanna see a dead Disney park?

Check out these wild photos taken by Seph Lawless inside the remains of River Country at Walt Disney World, the first Disney water park.

River Country opened back in 1976 and quickly became a popular part of the Walt Disney World experience, but by 2001 low attendance forced closure, and by 2005 the park was completely abandoned.

Seph honored the 40th anniversary of River Country's opening with his spooky photo series, sharing these thoughts on why he chose the theme park for his shoot:

“Along with Discovery Island, it is one of only two Disney parks in Disney's history to ever close permanently,” says Lawless “Both of the parks were left to slowly decay and to succumb to Mother Nature, leaving behind a beautiful apocalyptic landscape.”

How Common Is Your Birthday? Consult This Chart And Find Out

A lot of people think of their birthday as a special day, a day made just for them, and they totally trip out when they meet someone who was born on the same day.

But if you've ever wondered how rare the day of your birth actually is consult this chart created by Matt Stiles of The Daily Viz and you'll see- if you were born in the summer your day isn't that rare, born in January and you're a rare breed indeed.

Matt created this chart based on data gathered from The New York Times, and Lane Harrison gave it the 2.0 treatment by making an interactive version with information spanning 1973-1999.

Crazy Crafty Japanese Guy Builds Robot Tongue To Lick His Computer Screen

You know when the terms “crazed loner” and “homemade robot” are used in the same sentence you're about to see something strange, but fear not.

Because Japanese Youtuber mansooono isn't a total psychopath, he's just a guy who likes to lick his computer screen as a way to "worship" his favorite anime characters.

But mansooono grew tired of wiping saliva off his screen, so he built a simple yet effective device to do the screen licking for him- a robot tongue.

(YouTube Link)

Using a servo motor, realistic silicone tongue and Arduino circuitry, mansooono built a device that is exceedingly creepy yet effective, a robot tongue that can lick screens for a lifetime.

He also may have inadvertently come up with a convenient new way to paint our walls, look at those clean strokes!

The Star Wars Kid Is Now An Anti-Cyberbullying Attorney

Remember that lightsaber swingin' guy they called the Star Wars Kid?

He was one of the first viral video sensations, one of the first people to get the meme treatment, and one of the first to discover how trolls and cyberbullies can ruin your life with their hateful words.

(YouTube Link)

The Star Wars Kid's real name is Ghyslian Raza, and ever since his private video went viral after classmates uploaded it back in 2003 his life has never been the same, but mostly in a bad way.

Ghyslian was mercilessly mocked, lost all of his friends and says he was told he should “commit suicide” on a daily basis, but he overcame it all and grew up wanting to help others who have been bullied online.

Ghyslian is now an attorney specializing in cyberbullying, an area of law sorely lacking in legislation and legal representation, and he excels in this field because he knows what it's like to have your life ruined by the internet.

Guys Read Mean Tweets About Female Sports Reporters To Their Face

People like to say really mean things to others on social media, sharing their ugliest thoughts without a care in the world about who might be reading their mental dump.

The comments get even meaner when they're directed at females, with women in sports taking far more than their fair share of the textual abuse.

Reading this stuff online would ruin anyone's day, but how will guys feel when they read mean Tweets to the female sports reporters who received these comments online?

(YouTube Link)

Sports writer Julie DiCaro and ESPN radio host/columnist Sarah Spain are brave to face the online commenters in such a direct way for this #MoreThanMean video by Just Not Sports.

And hopefully showing people what it feels like to receive such hate filled and crappy comments will make the online community think twice about leaving mean comments like it's no big deal.

How To Visually Identify Any Language At A Glance

You don't have to understand every language in the world to be able to identify the language in which words are written, you just have to know a little something about their alphabets and look for identifying marks.

Lover of linguistic lore James Harbeck shared his method of uncovering the language in question on The Week, which basically revolves around looking for accent marks and characters that are unique to specific languages:

Ã, ã: When you see this sign of a nasalized A (as in São Paulo), you're almost certainly looking at Portuguese, especially if the language looks a lot like Spanish.

Ă, ă: This A with a cup on the top is your surest way of knowing you're looking at Romanian (unless you're looking at Vietnamese, but read on for more about that). For further confirmation, look for Ț/ț and Ș/ș (that's T and S with a comma beneath).

Ő, ő; Ű, ű: These vowels that look like their hair is standing on end are the most unambiguous signs of Hungarian. The clever Hungarians just combined ó and ö to make a letter that means "long ö," and did same with ű.

Bonus: How can you tell Chinese and Japanese apart? There's one special character that will give away Japanese every time, and it's only fair to tell you. Japanese uses three writing systems, only one of which is the same as Chinese uses, but unless you know them, you're out of luck. But Japanese makes frequent use of the character の, which is a grammatical particle and does not exist in Chinese (Chinese characters are never round).

Physics Students Calculate How Long Vampires Would Need To Suck Our Blood

Watch enough vampire themed shows and movies and you'll see a fanged character encounter one of the inherent problems of vampire life- the need to feed.

But these shows never reveal how long it would actually take a vampire to bite a victim's neck and satisfy their sanguine thirst.

(Image Link)

That's where the physics students from the University Of Leicester come in, because they've figured out how long it would take a vampire to feed before the process became futile.

According to their calculations a vampire could suck 15 percent of a person's blood out through two tiny holes in their neck in about 6.4 minutes, at which point the victim's heart rate would slow thereby making it harder to feed.

The Secret To Writing A Good Star Wars Script, According To West End Games

Even though a few impossible to satisfy detractors disliked Star Wars Episode VII most audiences loved returning to their beloved Star Wars universe, and saw no real problem with the writing.

So what was the deal with the prequels?

Apparently George Lucas didn't follow the style guide released by Lucasfilm in 1994, but the folks at West End Games read it closely while creating the finest Star Wars RPG to date.

(Image Link)

This extensive style guide was meant to give the West End Games team some parameters for what lore could be included in the game and some guidance on how to approach a Star Wars storyline.

Lucasfilm Creative Executive (and former West End Games writer) Pablo Hidalgo has been tweeting out snippets from the style guide to show us how intense writing licensed Star Wars projects used to be, before Lucas threw it out the window for the prequels.

Reading it is like seeing into alternate Star Wars dimensions that could have landed on the big screen and getting some sound advice on crafting a franchise specific storyline at the same time.

Sanctus Matthew - God Bless The Devil Of Hell's Kitchen

Sanctus Matthew by Dicky The Darkwraith

To the police and outside world the Devil of Hell's Kitchen's actions are deplorable, as they all continue to claim they hate vigilante justice, but the people who call the Kitchen home see him as a saint. He helps the poor and needy by taking down those who exploit them through crime and drug traffic, and while his actions aren't exactly to the letter of the law they're just what the city needed to free itself from Fisk's grasp. In church they pray for his safety, which seems ironic since he has chosen devil horns as his signature superhero style, and when he hits the streets it's with the full support of the neighborhood. Dangerous times call for desperate people to step up and punish the sinners, and that's just what Matt Murdock aims to do when he becomes Daredevil by night...

This Sanctus Matthew t-shirt by Dicky The Darkwraith proves that justice is blind, and sometimes a devil is the most prayed for man in town.
