Even Death Won't Stop Nate Dogg From Performing At Coachella

This year's lineup for Coachella Music Festival includes a bunch of live acts, and one act that has been dead since last year.

The dead act I'm speaking of is rapper Nate Dogg, who died of a stroke in March of 2011, but that won't stop a hologram of the dead rapper from hitting the stage alongside Snoop Dogg and Dr. Dre at Coachella this year, in a ghostly appearance sure to make the crowd wonder what exactly they've been smoking.

No word on whether a Tupac hologram plans to eliminate the spectral Nate Dogg and make an amazing comeback from beyond the grave, but it would definitely make for one hell of a stage show!

Chocolate 3D Printer Is Now A Delicious Reality

3D printers have come a long way over the years, from far flung tech to affordable enough for the average person to own. But what if you want to print up 3D objects that are also edible?

Until recently you'd have been out of luck, but thanks to Choc Edge the Choc Creator Version 1 is now available to make your 3D chocolate dreams a reality. Here's how it works:
the machine uses a stepper motor to three-dimensionally print layer upon layer of chocolate, which is extracted out of a refillable syringe.

Choc Creator utilizes an easy-to-use syringe based chocolate deposition head which allows users to rapidly install and remove syringe head units. The design enables users to refill syringes with fresh chocolate or different chocolates conveniently.

So, if you can pony up $4,600 American you can be the first person on your block to print out chocolates in all sorts of fanciful shapes, and bring your sweet imagination to life!

How Old Books Get That Distinctive Smell

(YouTube Link)

This succinct yet informative video reveals how old books get that distinctive smell we bibliophiles know and love, and illustrates the tell tale signs of book deterioration.

Watching it immediately brought the smell to mind, and I had to take one of my oldest editions off the shelf for a quick sniff. Yay for reading stuff!

The Invention Of The American Football Helmet

(YouTube Link)

Aaah the good old days, when a man was free to test his invention of the American football helmet in the manliest manner possible-by letting other men kick him and beat him about the head with a baseball bat.

Take a trip down memory lane and you'll no longer wonder why brain damage was so prevalent in the early 20th century, but you will wonder how they ever played a game of football without wearing helmets!

Bringing A 400-Year-Old Painting To Life With 3D Software

(YouTube Link)

Rob and Nick Carter have found a rather interesting way to bring a Bosschaert still life painting from 1618  into the 21st century-by using the 3D software package Maya to make models of everything in the scene, then subtly animating the objects in order to bring them to life.

Here's more about the scene:
Every aspect of Bosschaert’s painting has been brought to life including each flower stem, insect and background scenery. The film…takes the painted scene from early morning darkness through to noon (where the film exactly resembles the original painting) into dusk and late night.

The idea of recreating a still life scene in 3D seems a bit odd, but I think the idea could be applied to other paintings and artworks with some rather spectacular results. Wouldn't The Garden Of Earthly Delights by Heironymous Bosch make for an awesome animated scene?

Sleep Like A Stack Of Pancakes With A Side Of Bacon

This bedspread is a breakfast lover's delight, and it will make you wake up hungry each and every morning.

The quilt is styled after a butter drenched stack of pancakes, complete with gobs of syrup and a rug shaped like a side of bacon.

If you're starving for a bed that looks like breakfast in your house you may be disappointed, because this funky bedspread was made by Ros Cross back in 1973.

Time to hit the sewing machine crafty DIYers, I bet you can make an even tastier version of breakfast in bed if you put your mind to it!

Buses Loaded With IV Drip Dispensers Make The Rounds In Las Vegas

Taking a trip to Las Vegas can result in gamblers losing the shirt right off their back at the game tables, and that feeling of loss often leads to bouts of binge drinking and self loathing.

Good thing the Hangover Heaven buses have come to town! Equipped with IV drip dispensers and a soothing air conditioned atmosphere, Hangover Heaven is both the result of, and answer to, Sin City's excessive lifestyle.

So don't be afraid to drink up when you visit the Vegas Strip, because the Hangover Heaven will pick you up off the floor and put you back on your feet again!

Man Breaks Up Subway Fight By Calmly Eating A Bag Of Chips

(YouTube Link)

You know you've seen some stuff go down on the subway when you don't even bother to stop eating a bag of chips when a fight erupts right in front of you.

You're officially the Fonzi of snack food when you break up a fight while keeping a cool head and continuing to chomp down on said chips. I smell an endorsement deal in this guy's future!

The Hulk Makes The Cover Of Muscle And Fitness Magazine

The Hulk might seem like the perfect cover model for a magazine like Muscle and Fitness, but consider this-do you really want the guys that read your magazine getting even more jacked up on "supplements" in an attempt to look like Marvel Comics' raging tower of muscle?

And isn't this cover a bit misleading, considering that Bruce Banner (The Hulk's human alter-ego) is a scientist with the muscle mass and strength of, well, a scientist?!

Although the Hulk aspect seems a bit silly, I am intrigued by the article entitled "Bulletproof Your Knees", so I'm gonna ask around and see if anyone I know has picked up this issue. Well played Muscle and Fitness, well played indeed...

Short Film-Blow Out Sale

(YouTube Link)

This silly short film is called Blow Out Sale, and it features some familiar Hollywood faces, including Danny Pudi from the hit TV series Community, hamming it up like guys who don't give a damn if people judge them for having a good time while the camera's rolling.

The story plays out like a scene from Abed's imagination, maybe it helped shape/inspire Danny's character on Community?

The Rotoscoped Evil Dead

(YouTube Link)

Rotoscoping is a tedious process that involves animating over a live action film frame by frame, which means it took waaaaaay too long to rotoscope this trailer for the horror classic The Evil Dead.

And, while the end result is pretty cool looking and fun to watch, it's highly unlikely that PFR Studios will be rotoscoping any more of the film, because this bit is almost three years old!

It's loaded with beautiful, full color maps based on George R. R. Martin's original designs, and is so drool worthy that it should come with a bib.

Here's the ultimate sales pitch for this book:

So tear down all your old posters and sit tight until Lands is released in October, and your map-loving life is changed forever.

Creepy Furby Inspired Robotic Rings

From the bright and twisted minds at Keio University in Japan comes a set of robotic rings that appear to be made out of Furby's eyes and mouth.

If the nonsensical gibberish spewing out of the little alien bird creature has made your life a living hell, why not get revenge and show the world how much you hate Furby at the same time? Or you can use these rings to start your own ventriloquist act and become a hundredaire!

Wearing these creepy rings means your fashion sense will truly isolate you from the rest of the world, but at least you'll still have someone to talk to!

Turns Out The Ninja Turtles Aren't Aliens, They're Robots!

(YouTube Link)

The recent TMNT controversy started by Michael Bay pales in comparison to the facts about the real nature of the Heroes in a Halfshell revealed by this video from All Effects Company-they're actually robots!

Or, at least they were during the filming of the third Ninja Turtles movie way back in 1992. Watch as AEC reveals how the cutting edge Performance Capture System brought the Turtles to life in an awkwardly mechanical fashion.

The Backstreet Fellowship Boys

(YouTube Link)

The first time I watched this video it made me scream "Aaaaagh! Make It Stop!", but I soon found myself oddly mesmerized by the awkward gyrations of the Fellowship crew.

Once the horror subsided, I couldn't help but laugh at the ridiculousness of it all. Someone put some serious time and effort into this video, then shared it with the world, and somehow it still manages to be better than anything the Backstreet Boys ever put out.
