Historically Accurate Combat

Writers love to toss around the term "historically accurate" in order to make their war stories seem more credible and realistic.

But they're ignoring the way battles were really fought and won back in the day, and the fact that dragons were fought by knights who carried around polyhedral dice to keep combat fair for both sides.

So if these writers want to keep their historical war stories up to snuff they need to add concepts found in this Pain Train Comic like rolling for initiative, critical failure and encounter engagement.

Only then can they move on to more advanced concepts like saving throws versus breath weapons and the true cost of having a cleric resurrect you...

Guy's Girlfriend Says No Geeky Stuff Allowed In House, So He Hides It All In Plain Sight

It's a shame that geeks are unfairly judged by some simply because they're passionate about pop culture, but geeky pursuits really bother people for some strange reason, and yet these people will still date geeks.

This creates big problems when the two decide to move in together, since geeks typically collect geeky stuff that a hater won't want to see in their space, and stupid arguments ensue.

Imgur user ohhaibroadcast found out his girlfriend was an anti-geekite when she told him he couldn't put any of his geeky stuff upstairs, so he hid little Warhammer minis and LEGO figures around the house.

Meanwhile, his basement looks like nerdvana, so don't feel too bad for the guy:

He has a full sized MAME arcade cabinet, shelves full of board games, plenty of space for tabletop gaming, and a big screen and comfy recliners so he can watch movies about happy couples.

Something tells me their friends would rather hang out in the basement than upstairs in boring old Dullsville...

Surreal Animal Tattoos That Look Like Quirky Sketches

Tattoos have come a long way from those Sailor Jerry days, and now there's nothing cooler than having an artist use a tattoo gun to apply an original piece of artwork to your skin.

These artist original tats are (typically) one of a kind, and they're also a permanent addition to the body, but something tells me London-based artist Otto D'Ambra gets no complaints.

Otto's surreal hybrid critter drawings are so freakin' cool I don't know how people can settle for one tattoo!

Green Slime Loves Gelatinous Cube

Gelatinous cubes only eat people (and treasure and gear) because they're lonely, and like many emotional eaters they have a hard time finding a love who will understand their situation and won't judge them.

But green slime don't judge, and since both slimes are sexless and ambitionless masses who feel existence has no meaning you'd think the two dungeon dwelling creatures would make perfect partners.

However, as this comic from Joshua Wright shows, when lovers discover they have everything in common, including their slimy complexion, it can be hard to tell who's who!

GoPro Video Footage From Inside A Dishwasher

We knew people would use GoPro cameras to film every kind of physical activity imaginable, but the GoPro is showing us so much more than extreme sports and stunts.

They're letting us take a look inside stuff like never before, satisfying our curiosity with video footage from inside places where full grown adults simply won't fit- like inside a dishwasher while it runs through a full wash cycle.

(YouTube Link)

YouTuber Bito posted this video he shot with his Hero3 GoPro camera a few years back, and all I have to say is- fill that dishwasher up before you run it, Bito, or you're wasting water!

Miniature Rock Stars Made Out Of Peanuts

Peanut shells seem like a strange medium for sculpture, but talented miniature artist Steve Casino turns ordinary peanuts into pop culture icons with so much character they could hang out with Mr. Peanut.

Scratch that, I don't think Mr. Peanut is cool enough to hang with Steve Casino's creations, plus Mr. Peanut is all posh while the Casino crowd is a bit rough around the edges.

Steve's peanut superstars look perfectly camera ready in the front, but he leaves their backsides bare so you can see their humble beginnings as an ordinary legume.

Strange And Sarcastic Comics That Poke Fun At The Way We Live

Comic artists often draw images of real life they've filtered through their own wacky lens, and many become known not only for their artwork but also for their twisted sense of humor.

Moscow based illustrator Anton Gudim shares his strange, silly, and often sarcastic sense of humor via textless panels that poke fun at people stuff, like those silly human traditions we hold dear.

Gudim's panels show us that a comic strip doesn't need words to leave a mark on our brains, and they also prove you don't need spelled out sound effects to know when a character is screaming in pain.

Mom Calls Out Her Daughter For Eating The Cat's Vanilla Ice Cream

Kids are silly about their relationship with their pets and love to treat them like their furry babies, but their moms can take that same furry baby silliness to a whole new level of strange.

When Imgur user kelllbelll callously ate Coco the cat's vanilla ice cream Mom was quick to call her out on the theft.

Kelllbelll stuck to her "this is stupid" defense and remained undisturbed by the thought of eating CoCo's ice cream, so Mom had to step up her guilt trip game.

The moral of the story? Cats can't go to the store and buy their own vanilla ice cream, so drag your butt to the store and buy your own pint, because CoCo never forgets...

Some Of The Best And Worst Gimmick Comic Book Covers

People are buying comic books like never before thanks to the movie adaptations that are making billions in the box office, and yet the comic industry still struggles to stay afloat.

Nowadays people decide which series to read based on reviews online, so  their opinions aren't swayed by a snazzy looking cover, but back in the day a gimmick cover was the ultimate way to sell comic books.

Guest artists were often brought in to create the bold illustrations on the cover, and this art was designed to make readers feel like that issue was something they couldn't live without.

Unfortunately, many companies also relied too heavily on needlessly gimmicky covers to sell their books, like The Amazing Spider-Man issue 400 which was supposed to look like a tombstone but wound up looking like a blurry mess.

Movies That Got 100% On Rotten Tomatoes

Rotten Tomatoes started out as a site that featured movie reviews "from a variety of critics in the U.S.", and now the review aggregator website is "the most trusted measurement of quality for Movies & TV."

But a film that achieves a one hundred percent rating is something special no matter how you feel about the site, and yet many of the movies that have earned a perfect rating are quite surprising.

(Image Link)

Toy Story 1 and 2 took the 100% title, and so did Man On Wire, Mary Poppins and The Terminator, which is a surprise, but old Cool Hand Luke was a shoo-in for the 100 percenters club.

Guy Gets Revenge On His Cat For Waking Him Up In The Middle Of The Night

Cats act like they don't know the difference between day and night, but those little furry bastards definitely know the difference- and they know the middle of the night is the best time to get our attention.

So we get frustrated with them, wage a cold war and freeze them out until they do something cute and wind up right back on our good side.

But Nick T didn't pussyfoot around after his chatty tabby Italic had woken him up every night for a week straight- he meowed for vengeance.

(YouTube Link)

People were so concerned about Nick T's cat that he made a follow up video to show the world that his feline is fine. (barely NSFW due to language)

(YouTube Link)

So fine, in fact, that Nick T felt compelled to make another video to show how footloose and fancy free Italic is now that he knows the internet is on his side. They've unleashed a beast!

Honest Illustrations About Our Tech Obsessed Lives

Integrating technology into our lives was supposed to make things easier for us, automating and managing aspects of our daily lives to ease our burden, but in reality tech has made things more complicated.

We now struggle to unplug, constantly searching for a wi-fi signal so we aren't disconnected from our online friends list, each of us easily distracted by the small screens in our pockets and purses.

It appears our priorities shifted when we weren't paying attention, and now we'd rather carry on heated discussions about the color of dresses instead of speaking about the sad state of affairs in America.

Illustrator Eduardo Salles has a knack for cutting through the digital chatter to expose the soft, fleshy parts of our minds that have yet to become permanently attached to the internet.

Plug his brutally honest illustrations in and enjoy!

Photos That Will Make You Think Twice About Using Public Transportation

(Image Link)

Public transit services help people get around town without a car, but everyone who regularly rides the bus, train or trolley agrees on one thing- riding on public transportation sucks.

(Image Link)

Between the constant delays, the filthy conditions, the crime, the stench, and the crowd of people you're forced to share the space with it's no wonder people would rather pay to take an Uber to work than ride the train.

(Image Link)

The train scene has gotten so bad that even superheroes are having a hard time surviving the trip, which isn't that surprising if you consider they have more experience fighting giant monsters than dirty naked dudes.

(Image Link)

That's why the granny in this shot bought herself a special subway assault rifle for the ride!

Venus Flytraps Need Protection From Poachers In North Carolina

Venus flytraps aren't generally thought of as plants worth stealing, and since they're seen as a novelty addition to a garden it doesn't seem like they'd be worth much money.

But the Venus Flytrap is an endangered species due to overcollection so there's real money to be made by poaching Flytraps, and therefore poaching has become a family tradition passed down for generations.

The Venus Flytrap is native to swampy areas in North and South Carolina, and the only place in the world where it grows wild is a 75 mile radius around Wilmington, where it has been protected by state legislation since 1956.

In fact, poaching has become such a big problem conservationists are afraid the Flytraps will be picked into extinction by poachers, who often sell the plants on the black market for about 25 cents each.

The poachers aren't above stealing this rare plant by the thousands from greenhouses and nurseries in the area too, and it's estimated there are only about 35,000 plants remaining in the wild.
