Beloved TV Characters Who Are Really Bad People

Whenever fans develop strong feelings for a pop culture character they start to feel like that character can do no wrong, because every choice they make and action they take is just character development.

But if you put the fan feels aside and actually look at what these characters have done during their storylines they start to look like really bad people.

Characters like Spike from Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Angel started out evil, and made no bones about their allegiance to the dark side, but there's evil and then there's staking your own mother evil.

Spike is scary and all, and I wouldn't want to be on the wrong end of Tyrion's crossbow, but sometimes the scariest and most dangerous characters look like harmless dimwits.

Russian Grandma Teaches People How To Use A Green Screen

People don't look to their grandmas for advice on how to up their digital art game, since most grandmas seem to have a hard time understanding how to use the computer let alone software with a steep learning curve.

But Russian grandma and Chroma Key guru Tatiana Subbotina has a good handle on the whole digital video editing game, and she's sharing her advice with the world in the weirdest way possible.

Even though the videos don't really give much usable advice on video editing they're really fun to watch, and Tatiana seems to really enjoy making them:

Subbotina spoke to BuzzFeed saying, “I decided that I too could talk about this [editing videos]. So I started making stories on my YouTube channel about how I work with it. I didn’t invent anything there, but I try to explain it as simply as possible. It’s very exciting and I like it.”

How To Put On A Sweater With Minimal Disturbance To The Cat Around Your Neck

You may think it's a good and fun idea to teach your cat how to perch on your shoulders and wrap around your neck, but the fun quickly wears off when you discover you can't shake off your new fur collar.

Musician Roger Brawn made the mistake of letting his cat Spiggy perch without making him sign a lease, and now Spiggy refuses to vacate Roger's shoulders.

But Roger seems to enjoy having a Spiggy-shaped scarf wrapped around his neck, so much so that he has figured out a way to put on a jumper without disturbing that spoiled shoulder dweller.

How To Prepare Jake's Perfect Sandwich From Adventure Time

Jake is half dog, half shapeshifter, and he has the magical ability to stretch his body into nearly any shape and size, which means he could devour a Dagwood sandwich better than Scooby Doo if he wanted to.

But Jake's also a dog with refined tastes, so when he crafts a sandwich you can be sure his creation will taste totally mathematical.

So what do you need to make Jake's perfect sandwich? A whole loaf of bread, a sous vide steak, a deboned cornish game hen, bacon, cream cheese, a bunch of other stuff and, most importantly, a lobster's soul.

Andrew Rea isn't the only human who has ever attempted to recreate Jake's perfect sandwich, but the monstrosity he creates on this episode of Binging With Babish actually looks drool worthy!

Woman Sends Guy A Detailed PowerPoint On Why He Should Date Her

These days you can tell somebody you have feelings for them in many different ways, as emails and text messages have replaced the written note and eliminated the need for a face-to-face.

But take it from University of Minnesota student Lizzy Fenton- telling your crush how you feel about them with a PowerPoint presentation may not go over very well unless they're as big a .ppt nerd as you are.

Lizzy sent this droll and very detailed PowerPoint presentation titled Why You Should Date Me to a guy named Carter she had a crush on, but Carter didn't dig the details so he turned poor Lizzy down.

However, people who saw Lizzy's presentation online claim she made them swoon, and a rep from Microsoft even reached out to Lizzy to applaud her efforts.

But in the end Lizzy was left with nothing but a wounded heart and a restraining order from Channing Tatum.

Furless Tickle Me Elmo Proves Adorability Is Skin Deep

There has always been something sinister about Elmo's squeaky clean and innocent facade, but until that little bugger is caught and dissected to see what he's actually made of we'll just have to keep on wondering.

For #ScienceMobile that wondering led to performing surgery on a Tickle Me Elmo doll, which is the only test subject they had that is similar enough to teach us anything about Elmo anatomy.

I think I like him better this way...

The Origin Of The World's Most Famous Tongue Twister

"She Sells Sea Shells By The Sea Shore" is arguably the most famous tongue twister in the world, and even though the tongue twister itself dates back to around 1908 the true story it's based on is much older.

The "she" in the rhyme is Mary Anning from Dorset, England, who dug up fossils along the coast and sold them to tourists during the first half of the 19th century.

Digging up fossils was a family business, one which Mary took over when her father passed away in 1810, and even though the fossil trade was booming she struggled to make money because each fossil took her so long to dig up.

(Image Link)

Now, thanks to the tongue twister, Mary is known for selling sea shells even though she should be far more famous for her contributions to paleontology, a branch of science which was very young in her day.

And speaking of young- Mary was just 12-years-old when she and her brother dug up the skull of a four-foot Ichthyosaur and gained international fame among fossil enthusiasts:

This discovery came decades before Darwin first published his model of evolution, at a time when most people were still ignorant of the earth’s ancient past. Most scientists believed that animals did not go extinct: they would instead migrate to a location more suited to their needs.

When Anning’s discovery was put on display, it created a considerable buzz among scientists and brought Anning to the attention of the wider community of archaeologists. By 1820, Anning was running a modestly successful fossil business and was working in collaboration with other geologists, finding a number of important fossils in the process.

A famous geologist, Henry De la Beche, created illustrations of ancient life forms in their natural habitat based on the fossils unearthed by Anning. This created some revenue which La Beche generously donated to Anning; yet despite this new-found fame, she continued to struggle financially.

People On The News Who Are Clearly High On Life

The number "420" has been adopted by marijuana enthusiasts the world over and is thought to have originated in 1971 with a group of buddies from San Rafael high school in California who called themselves "The Waldos".

And even though many stoners have lost sight of the number's origin story they all agree that April 20th is the (un)official day of cannabis celebration, when everyone is in high spirits.

But the people in these news clips don't need to smoke weed to act like total stoners, because they're so high on life it hurts to think! Must be something in the air...

A Guitar Transcription Of The "Monster Energy Drinks Are The Work Of Satan" Speech

(Image Link)

Evangelicals are seeing Satan everywhere these days, which is more a matter of seeing what they want to see than actually seeing anything real, and even energy drinks aren't safe from the 21st century Satanic Panic.

For according to Christine Weick, the woman who made this video back in 2014 and believes the Easter Bunny is a "Pagan Hare",  Monster energy drinks are the work of Satan and corrupting young minds.

(YouTube Link)

Christine's crackpottery naturally became the stuff of internet legend, but nobody could have foreseen how it would inspire talented musician JackWeir85 to transcribe and harmonize the speech for guitar.

And we still have no idea why JackWeir85 transcribed the speech at all...could it be the work of SATAN!

A Beautiful Stained Glass Cabin Straight From A Fairytale

Stained glass windows are built to look beautiful both night and day, with colored glass cut and shaped to be aesthetically pleasing, but you can't fully appreciate the beauty of a stained glass window until the sun shines through.

So imagine how glorious the daylight hours must look and feel while you're inside this miniature stained glass cabin in the woods, constructed by artist and craftsman Neile Cooper.

Neile's "Glass Cabin" is a good example of how adding stained glass windows to a home can actually change the feel of the entire place, which in this case changed the feel from greenhouse to fairy tale dreamhouse.

Airline Pilot Reveals The Meaning Of 11 Secret Code Words Used During Flight

The pilots and attendants on an airplane must be able to communicate with each other over the intercom without alarming people, so they use jargon that makes no sense to passengers in order to speak in secret.

But thanks to pilot and author of Cockpit Confidential Patrick Smith the jargons out of the jar, and now you'll know what they're talking about when they discuss all-calls, crosschecks and "the equipment":

All-call

Used in a sample sentence: "Flight attendants, doors to arrival, crosscheck and all-call."

Definition: According to Smith, all-call is usually part of the door arming/disarming procedure. "This is a request that each flight attendant report via intercom from his or her station — a sort of flight attendant conference call," he wrote.

Doors to arrival and crosscheck

Used in a sample sentence: "Flight attendants, doors to arrival and crosscheck."

Definition: The announcement, usually made by the lead flight attendant as the plane is approaching the gate, is to verify that the emergency escape slides attached to each door have been disarmed — otherwise the slide will deploy automatically as soon as the door is opened.

Equipment

Used in a sample sentence: "Due to an equipment change, departure for Heathrow is delayed three hours.”

Definition: The airplane. "Is there not something strange about the refusal to call the focal object of the entire industry by its real name?" Smith wrote.

Unconventional Wedding Gowns That Caused A Stir

The bride is typically supposed to be the center of everyone's attention during a wedding, and her dress is supposed to make people gasp and talk in a good way.

So what did people think when Celine Dion wore this  Mirella and Steve Gentile gown when she wed her manager René Angélil in 1994?

They thought it looked like a bathrobe and talked trash, and yet nobody was surprised when Pamela Anderson wore nothing but a bikini while she got hitched to Kid Rock aboard a yacht back in 2006.

Sadly, the wedding dresses worn by the rich and famous get more attention when they're cool and unusual than when they're traditional or trashy, which is why Emma Thompson's dress got so much press back in 1989.

But if unique, unusual and simply fabulous was good enough for someone with as much marriage experience as Elizabeth Taylor then why would any bride want to walk down the aisle in a boring white wedding gown?

College: Movies Versus Real Life

Every spring a new batch of seniors graduate from high school and start thinking about college in the fall, while current college students think about the summer while enjoying their spring break.

In real life those formulative college years represent change and a myriad of possibilities, but in movies about college the university experience is reduced to a rom-com full of montages and native advertising.

This comic by Krudman and Rebecca Caplan isn't as exciting as one of those crazy college films full of guys and gals gone wild, but it will make the college bound feel better about attending classes!

Police Mistake Fallout Cosplayer For Bomber

Cops don't understand cosplay, or cosplayers for that matter, so they're constantly mistaking people in costume for a threat to public safety, a misunderstanding which has turned deadly on a few occasions.

Thankfully when cops in Grand Prairie, Canada were called in to investigate this Fallout cosplayer they didn't shoot first and ask questions later- because they mistook part of his costume for a bomb.

Dressed as a member of the New California Republic from Fallout: New Vegas, the cosplayer was heading to the nearest tailor for some alterations when police moved in to take action:

While on his way to Lynn’s Alterations at Bell Tower Plaza carrying a New California Republic flag, calls from concerned residents altered police who then showed up to the tailor’s shop and used their vehicles for cover, treating the entire ordeal like a live bomb situation that might end in a shootout. “At least eight officers responded with their long guns drawn,” CBC News reported

While in the middle of doing measurements for the costume, the owner of Lynn’s Alterations, Hoa Huynh, was called by police and asked if he saw any wires on the man. When Huynh confirmed that he did, they told him to exit the shop out the back entrance.

What the police and other residents had mistaken for a bomb, however, turned out to be several cans of Pringles potato chips.

Fortunately, the police tried to open a dialogue with the cosplayer before opening fire, and in so doing realized what exactly was going on. They still took him into custody but eventually released him without any charges.

Moral of the story? Fallout cosplay at a Con is cool, but Fallout cosplay on the street looks like a felony in the making.

Anime Characters Who Were Based On Real People

The artists who create characters for manga and anime almost always use a real person as a reference for drawing, including their features, hairstyle and skin tones in the cartoon adaptation.

The massive man-eating "Armored Titan" on Attack On Titan is based on MMA fighter Brock Lesnar because of course he is, and the comparison between Rock Lee from Naruto and Bruce Lee is pretty obvious.

But most people are unaware how many of the characters on the sci-fi noir series Cowboy Bebop are based on real actors, including Spike Spiegel who is based on badass Japanese actor Yusaku Matsuda.

The hair, the clothes and the swagger are a perfect fit, and with that in mind who do you think inspired the bounty hunter character Coffee?

That's a no-brainer, Coffee is a ripoff of inspired by Pam Grier, star of the movie Coffy.

The real life inspiration for the High School Of The Dead character Hirano Kohta isn't quite as obvious unless you're an otaku like him- he was drawn to resemble Hellsing creator Hirano Kouta. They changed one letter in his name...nothing obvious about that! *wink*
