Well, the problem here is that most people don't practice moderation in their diets and end up becoming "victims" of the obesity epidemic. I think nutritional value should certainly enter into state foods. Designating something as a "state food" encourages consumption of said item, and in this case, said item is a chocolate pie with shortening/sugar filling. That's really...not a good idea. I mean, associating state patriotism with a fatty treat is probably not exactly the most proactive thing to do in today's world, with the number of obese people in our country ballooning at such a rapid pace.
