Overhyped Films That Were Never Released

Maybe you’ve heard about these films, too! Here’s the thing about the film industry: a massive amount of hype can make producers adapt a book or comic series into a movie. However, if the initial movie underperforms (both sales and reception-wise), we’re not going to expect a sequel at all. There are cases where PR and marketing people release announcements to hype up a release of an upcoming film, even though there’s no certainty that it will actually be released to the public. Looper lists different films that were never released. Check the full list here.

The Sun Is Experiencing A Second Fusion

The sun is now experiencing a second mode of fusion, as scientists discover the presence of neutrinos in its energy range. Stars actually have different kinds of fusion reactions at their cores, so there’s no surprise that the sun is getting another fusion. It’s the detection that’s difficult, as Popular Mechanics detailed:

But detecting the evidence of different kinds of reactions is difficult. Enter neutrinos, which are lightweight, neutral subatomic particles that can pass through matter almost without any evidence. This is because of their physical properties and the fact that they respond to the weak, rather than strong, force of physics in our universe. (In a colloquial sense, the furthest extension of the weak interaction of neutrinos is something like dark matter, which scientists believe is mingling around us all the time without disturbing our matter.)

Hey, Could Dark Energy Destroy Us?

Dark energy sounds like a main premise for a dystopian science fiction movie. Actually, it’s a real thing, even though it’s one of the biggest mysteries in physics. The universe is composed of matter, radiation, and an additional component that doesn’t clump or cluster, appears the same everywhere, at all times, and in all directions. This component is called dark energy. While scientists know how it affects the universe, they have no idea what it really is. Forbes writes about the mystery behind the component and how it could destroy not just us, but the entire universe. Check the full piece here.

Apple’s Best Of 2020 App Store Winners

Well, believe it or not, 2020 is almost done. December is the chance for people to spend holidays with their loved ones (under safe and proper health protocols, of course), and it’s also time for the annual ‘best of 2020’ lists. Just the other day, Spotify trended after its release of Spotify Wrapped, a list of a user’s most played tracks in a year. Apple also released its annual list of best apps and games. App Store editors selected the winners based on quality, design, usability, and Apple technology:

The “Best of 2020” winners this year include a number of apps that helped people transition to a life spent at home. For example, home workout app Wakeout! won iPhone App of the Year, while Zoom snagged the top spot as the iPad App of the Year.
Disney+, which helped families keep kids entertained during coronavirus lockdowns, won for Apple TV App of the Year. The streaming service had just won “best app” in Google Play’s User Choice category, announced on Tuesday alongside its other Play Store winners.
Top games of the year highlighted our collective need for escapism, often to fantasy worlds. This year, the list of game winners included Genshin Impact (also a Play Store “best game” winner) for iPhone Game of the Year; Legends of Runeterra as iPad Game of the Year; Disco Elysium as Mac Game of the Year; Dandara Trials of Fear as Apple TV Game of the Year; and Sneaky Sasquatch as the Apple Arcade Game of the Year.

Guess The Ridiculous Kidz Bop Clean Lyric

Yes, there are songs that are not suitable for kids. Usually, people would just not let kids listen to those songs, but there are some people who are willing to change the lyrics so kids can bop to some of the tracks that are not deemed suitable for younger audiences. Kidz Bop changes lyrics to make them kid-friendly - sure, that’s great, but sometimes the clean lyrics just … suck. Well, it’s not bad to use it for games! Watch as the guys from Good Mythical MORE guess the Kidz Bop lyrics to some popular songs.

Pokeball Replica Worth $100 Will Be Available Soon!

Well, it has to be high-end. Also, it has to come with the Pokemon Company’s seal of approval. Which is what this metal replica of the iconic game item is! The Pokemon Company has teamed up with The Wand Company to make an accurate replica of the Poke Ball, Great Ball, Ultra Ball, and Premier Ball, all of which will roll out in 2021. Relive your childhood dreams of catching Pokemon (or not; you could just put them up for display, these are expensive after all) - if you have enough funds to purchase them:

The Wand Company’s Poké Ball will cost $99.99. It’s available for pre-order now and will ship on Feb. 27, 2021 — Pokémon’s 25th anniversary. So what does a hundred bucks’ worth of Poké Ball entail?
According to The Pokémon Company, the die-cast metal replica Poké Ball features proximity-sensing technology. When it detects motion, the ball will glow. Pressing the button on the Poké Ball “changes the light color or starts a Pokémon-catching illumination sequence.” It also comes with a presentation case and a stainless-steel ring on which collectors can display the Poké Ball replica. The case itself also comes with a touch-sensitive metal plaque that lights up the ball. (Oh, and batteries are included.)

It’s Asteroid Time, Baby!

Scientists have been curious about planets in our solar system for years. Those objects make up a small percentage of the vast unknown space. There’s still a lot of other heavenly bodies out there, and it seems that scientists are now focusing their attention on a different celestial object: asteroids

The next round of asteroid missions will try out a bunch of unusual styles of exploration. Lucy will visit the Trojan asteroids that move in the same orbit as Jupiter. The Psyche mission will travel to the asteroid Psyche—a mysterious object that appears to be composed almost entirely of metal. DESTINY+ will head to Phaethon, a "rock-comet" asteroid that appears to be crumbling because it passes so close to the Sun. NEA Scout will use a solar sail to navigate to a near-Earth asteroid.
Most dramatic of all, the DART spacecraft will ram full-speed into a small asteroid Dimorphos in 2022. The goal is to test out a technique for deflecting a dangerous asteroid if we discover one coming our way; four years later, the Hera probe will follow up to assess the damage.
There are many reasons for this current fascination with asteroids. They contain evidence of how our solar system formed, how Earth got its water, maybe even how life got started here. They are rich, complicated mini-worlds in their own right. They are easy to visit because of their very low gravity. Someday asteroids could even provide useful resources for astronauts or for space-based industry.

Why Is Horse Semen The World’s Most Expensive Liquid?

Wow, you’d expect it to be a very old wine hidden in someone’s high-end wine cellar. But alas, surprisingly, it’s horse semen. Before the ‘no nut November’ jokes come butting in, wealthy investors are willing to spend over four million dollars just to ensure that the foal they could breed from a proven winner’s semen will bring back their investment. 'Sistine Chapel Of The Ancients’ Found In The Amazonian Rainforest

Archaeologists have found thousands of paintings of animals and humans across cliff faces in Colombia. This newly-discovered long stretch of prehistoric art is one of the world’s largest collections of rock art, and hailed as “the Sistine Chapel of the ancients.” Experts estimate that the paintings were created at least 12,500 years ago, as the Guardian details:

Their date is based partly on their depictions of now-extinct ice age animals, such as the mastodon, a prehistoric relative of the elephant that hasn’t roamed South America for at least 12,000 years. There are also images of the palaeolama, an extinct camelid, as well as giant sloths and ice age horses.
These animals were all seen and painted by some of the very first humans ever to reach the Amazon. Their pictures give a glimpse into a lost, ancient civilisation. Such is the sheer scale of paintings that they will take generations to study.
The discovery was made last year, but has been kept secret until now as it was filmed for a major Channel 4 series to be screened in December: Jungle Mystery: Lost Kingdoms of the Amazon.
The site is in the Serranía de la Lindosa where, along with the Chiribiquete national park, other rock art had been found. The documentary’s presenter, Ella Al-Shamahi, an archaeologist and explorer, told the Observer: “The new site is so new, they haven’t even given it a name yet.”

Not A Daft Punk Cosplay, But A Face Mask And Shield In One!

I would call it the right headpiece for someone’s Among Us cosplay, but I guess some people would recognize Daft Punk first before the little animated beans in a video game. Regardless, this equipment serves as a protector of your health and your privacy at the same time! The Blanc Mask, designed by Alexey Dolgushin, was created to work as a PPE but not look like one:

The Blanc provides a protective, full-face cover, giving you a tinted visor to look through, and specifically designed air-channels to breathe through. Two high-efficiency SGS-tested HEPA filters make sure the air you breathe is 99.97% pure, trapping any microparticles, microorganisms, and VOCs in the process. The mask itself offers an air-tight seal, while carefully calibrated pathways ensure the air you breathe always passes through a filter, giving you pure air with each breath. Air that you exhale passes out through outlets located at the base of the mask, ensuring your visor never gets fogged up. Should you choose, the Blanc even comes with a unique corrective visor system that gives you prescription visors, so you can effectively wear the mask without spectacles… although the mask’s inner padding offers enough space for you to wear your own glasses.

Are You Always Cold? Here Are Some Reasons Why

Maybe you’re one of those people who easily get cold. Or have you wondered why you always feel cold, even if you aren’t sick, or there’s no A/C  on? It could be that you just easily get cold, or it could also signal a medical issue. Parade lists some possible reasons:

Usually, feeling cold often isn’t a major reason to worry, but you should still bring it up with your doctor if it persists or seems to come out of nowhere, says Philip Junglas, a primary care physician at the Cleveland Clinic. “After evaluation, I can usually tell most patients the cold, chilly feeling is annoying but not a marker of life-threatening concerns,” he says.
The body’s usual temperature is about 98.6 degrees Fahrenheit, but it can lower with age. And a number of factors can make you feel cold even if your body temperature is normal, Junglas says.
Women also tend to feel colder than men. That’s because women often have a lower metabolic rate, which means they burn fewer calories at rest and don’t generate as much heat. If you’re prone to feeling chilly most of the time, here are 10 possible reasons why.

Check out the detailed list of possible reasons why you feel cold here.
