"shown to reduce noise 3 to 4 decibels"

Excuse me if I'm less than impressed by that. I could replace the cheap fan in my computer with a slightly-less-cheap-but-still-cheap one and reduce the noise by way more than 4 decibels. I'm sure the investors will be impressed.

The Samuel R Delany room is closest to my own - so cramped and cluttered that the photo has to be taken from above! Come on authors, there is no way that your workspaces are so tidy when you're working... or maybe I'm the only one who likes to be surrounded by an advancing avalanche of paper and balancing 'stuff'.

I have a slightly smaller version of this which is actually a vase from Ikea. 47 ounces which I downed in one, (took about a minute). Search YouTube for "Praise the Gods of Beer and Metal".

I recently bought a larger beer glass shaped 'vessel' (another vase from Ikea!) which can hold 200 ounces. I'm still investigating the medical ramifications of drinking 10 English pints (12 US pints) so quickly!

Next thing you know they'll have a picture of Mr Brain's Faggots (an actual UK product in case you weren't aware). While a lot of these things are genuinely humorous, the 'pot' joke is tenuous at best, given that the noodles are clearly in a pot. In the words of another ad slogan, 'it does exactly what it says on the tin'.

Ah. Disney. Gotcha. Sad how a cartoon version of an ancient story comes out, and we have to be re-educated in the original form. In my defence, I haven't seen the movie, but I have seen the pantomime and read the story. I'll get my coat...

In all the British Christmas pantomime versions of Aladdin, I've never seen Aladdin portrayed as anything other than Chinese. So I'm a little curious to know why 'Aladdin was Chinese' would be worthy of a story here. It's in 1001 Nights, but regardless of the Middle Eastern origin of the collection as a whole, the Aladdin story is clearly set in China. Where is the confusion here? Or have I missed a modern re-interpretation of Aladdin in Baghdad?!

I thought our 2012 logo was bad (and it is), but seeing some of the older ones I am re-assured that Olympic posters throughout history have been equally terrible. Tokyo and Melbourne rank highly, but the winner has to be Mexico 1968 - some kind of hypnotic mind-warping propaganda tool to lure you into the stadium!
