You could also ask for a specific thing from a friend or family member who is going to give you a gift. Or ask for money and then buy what you want.

My house doesn't have any panic rooms. I had to look up what a "panic room" was.

Back when everyone had land lines, you used to be able to tell the general area where someone lived by what their phone number was. Their whole phone number, not just the area code.
Personally, I rather lament the demise of phone-number geography.
