Cherry Cheesecake Stuffed French Toast

Woah, now, that cheesecake isn't a proper, healthy breakfast! You need to modify it a bit. Mix it with cherries, shove it inside some challah, then batter your bread with an egg mixture. Soon enough, you'll have some healthy French toast.

Wood VHS Cassette Table

Pretty cool, huh? Take a closer look. Someone taped over Star Wars...with Police Academy 4!

We don't know much about the person who made this wonderful yet offensive coffee table. S/he goes by a pseudonym -- "t76" -- probably for personal safety reasons.

Zombie Apocalypse: A Map of Resources

You were foolish and didn't make any preparations until it was too late. Now there are zombies everywhere and you need supplies.* Go directly to the interactive Map of the Dead. Type in an address and it will plot out gun stores, liquor stores, hospitals, hardware stores and other resources in your area.

*Yeah, the address that I gave you for my shelter was disinformation. Sorry. Nothing personal, just operational security.

Asimov's Three Laws of Robotics in LEGO

Science fiction writer Isaac Asimov famously devised three laws that all robots should follow:

1: A robot may not injure a human being or, through inaction, allow a human being to come to harm.

2: A robot must obey the orders given to it by human beings, except where such orders would conflict with the First Law.

3: A robot must protect its own existence as long as such protection does not conflict with the First or Second Laws.

Simon Primordial Greeble created LEGO dioramas representing these laws. The second is illustrated above.

So: there's a dog poop piece. That never appeared in any set that I owned as a kid.

Slow Motion Car Crash Lasts a Month

(Video Link)

(Video Link)

Watch a disaster unfold. You'll need about a month.

Well, if not for time-lapse videos, you would. Jonathan Schipper's art exhibit at the AV Festival in Newcastle upon Tyne, UK, showed a car crashing into a wall. Every hour, the car was moved forward 7 millimeters. Over the course of a month, visitors saw it impact and crumple against the wall. The embedded videos above show the first two weeks.

Matchstick Cookies

IFeelCook made these adorable butter cookies shaped like matchsticks. It required careful cutting, because the cookies have to bake square to look right in the box. A bit of frosting on the tips and they're ready to eat.

Tea Cups and Saucers as Musical Instruments

Who is the master performer? I don't know, but he'll gladly serve you a cup of tea. In the process, he'll perform acrobatic stunts and play music on the cups and saucers.

Keith Haring Easter Egg

Marina Galperina of Flavorwire rounded up ten sets of Easter eggs painted in the styles of popular artists, including Roy Lichtenstein, Vincent Van Gogh, Piet Mondrian, Frida Kahlo and others. I really like this one inspired by the works of the late Pop artist Keith Haring.

Every Jump of the General Lee, Seasons 1-6

(Video Link)

Put this on a continuous loop, and I could watch it all day. Treva Graham compiled every jump of the General Lee during the first six seasons of The Dukes of Hazzard.

How many times should they jump the General Lee in an episode? The correct answer is "more".

How Las Vegas Almost Built a 1:1 Scale Model of the Enterprise

According to Danny of the Goddard Group, an entertainment design firm, Las Vegas almost built the greatest architectural marvel in human history. It was 1992, and the Star Trek franchise was thriving. Downtown Las Vegas had lost a lot of business to the Strip. Developers wanted a way to lure tourists back, and they had plenty of space in which to do it.

They wanted high class, high rolling customers that would bring a touch of style and panache to downtown. In other words, Trekkies. So Danny proposed building a (non-functional) replica of the Enterprise. Inside the nearly three hundred meter length model would be sets from the ship and shows for visitors.

The developers and the mayor were on board with the idea. Alas, some executives at Paramount balked, and the deal fell through.

Deviled Easter Eggs

Debra Taylor discovered that you can use Easter egg dyes on the contents of eggs as well as their shells. She dipped egg whites in PAAS neon Easter egg dye to create these lovely pastel deviled eggs.

This 1944 American newsreel shows the US Army's "Super Jeep". It was a rare extended-body jeep that could carry ten men. According to the newsreader, it was designed for shore patrol and was capable of traversing more rugged terrain than the standard jeep.

Doctor Who/Firefly Hat

Boy, it sure would be nice if we had some jelly babies, don't you think? Holynarf knitted this Jayne Cobb-style hat using the colors of the Fourth Doctor's scarf. You can find her pattern at the link.

Easter Egg Hunt

It isn't a game of kids, as German artist Michael Sowa illustrates. But in a brutal post-apocalyptic Easter, you do what you have to do to survive.

A Hole in the Sky

There's a crack in the universe, and it's growing.

Oh, there's no evidence that Japanese photographer Yochai Matos was thinking of Doctor Who when he made this image, but that's what it reminded me of.

How did Matos do it? With a carefully arrangement of florescent bulbs. You can find daylight pictures of his installation at the link.
