The late anime blogger Steven Den Beste hated recommendations so much that he would ban people for making them.
In my experience, taste in anime is so individualistic. There are many anime that are enormously popular that I find tedious and others that are obscure that I really like. That's why I talk about the anime that I enjoy, but I don't recommend any series to anyone.
I prefer to watch the movies in the order in which they were released.
Despite the hate that the prequels get (and I used to share), I re-watched them a year ago and found II and III to be good. III was arguable brilliant in its depiction of the seduction of Anakin Skywalker.
