At first I thought this was embroidery given the subtle shading, but looking at the enlarged photo, it does appear to be cross-stitch. This must either be a very large piece or very tiny stitches. Would like to know more about the piece.

Okay, everyone relax. They claimed it was foot long, but they didn't say whose foot they measured! My feet are no where near 12 inches. So, give it a rest!
