In the 80s and 90s there was a sitcom on BBC called "Allo 'Allo", set in a sleepy occupied French town, and the macinations of the Resistance, the Wehrmacht and the SS. It was incredibly popular, both here and around the world. Executives from German TV came, and laughed all the way through the episodes they were show. "Its very funny," they said, "but we could never show it."
