The original was pretty intense for the era of its creation; the scene were the Thing is doused with kerosene and set ablaze was the first time that particular stunt was attempted in a movie.
Reminds me of an old Far Side cartoon, where a would-be seeing-eye dog does great right up until the "Don't lead your human into the jumbo jet engine" test.
The outdoor humorist Patrick McManus (RIP) wrote about "Whatchagot Stew", which is what gets made when everyone arrives at the hunting camp and tosses whatever foodstuffs they brought along into the communal pot. Just looking at the result isn't very safe, much less eating it.
List should have included Arnold Schwarzenegger; early in his career he appeared in a Kirk Douglas comedy/western called The Villain. It's actually a fun little flick.
Maybe you're just saying "that's what people think of when they see this image", but it should be noted that hedgehogs and porcupines are entirely different species.
One minor nitpick- while McGovern's nun character supplies the guitar, it's stewardess Randy, played by Lorna Patterson, who belts out River of Jordan, almost killing Jill Whelan's character in the process by twice accidentally disconnecting her IV line.
The science fiction writer Murray Leinster is another who should be commemorated in this area- he wrote a story titled "A Logic Named Joe" in -1946- which came pretty close to depicting the modern internet. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/A_Logic_Named_Joe
The actor Stephan Fry actually wrote a novel, Making History, where the heroes go back in time and successfully spike the Hitler family's drinking water with birth control medication.
Arnold had made a comedy before Twins- believe or not, it was a western called The Villain starring Kirk Douglas. Arnold's character is called Handsome Stranger. The whole thing is essentially a live-action Roadrunner cartoon, and is actually pretty funny in a very lowbrow sort of way.
