We barely have signs of intelligence on earth, it's a waste of time and money to look for it elsewhere.
And if you found it in space, then what? No one on earth is taking a stand against aggressive capitalism and pollution or human overpopulation.
We don't even do what's right for Earth. What difference will it make finding intelligence anywhere else.

I really like what you said here. It gives us all a lot to think about. Fragmented media, as well as too much choice/freedom, is definitely pushing society to be more like Mad Max Fury Road. At least it feels that way. I think what it comes down to is - you have to create a society that's good for people on both ends of every spectrum. A society with too much fragmented media, too much open-mindedness (as well as the rise of conspiracy theorists) definitely can't be good for people on the mid-low end of the spectrum. Do a google search of what people dressed like in the 40s-50s, the way they spoke to their elders, the things they cared about, etc. It almost feels like aggressive capitalism is slowly removing the spine from the culture we all loved originally. I duno.

i think kids today would be have better vocabularies, and better manners, if they read comic strips instead of play fortnite.
remember when no one had a cell phone, and you had to look at other people and be classy?
good times.

laws of war exist only in our minds and in the moment
if i woke up on an island with no government, no military, etc. and I was sharing the island with one other man, we would have to either kill each other or truce
in that moment we created laws
but in another scenario, we move the goal posts

Hurricane Katrina was sad for the people we lost, but it was also interesting from a psychological standpoint. And the reason is, everyone reacted to the impending doom in a different way. Some people left the area a week ahead of the storm, completely believing the forecasters. But there was a large number of people who had the attitude "We haven't had a bad storm since Betsy (50 years ago). This is nothing new, we'll brave it."
I think it's just another great example of how nuanced we are as humans, even within the same household. All my siblings had a different gameplan - every neighborhood had a different plan.
To answer your question, most of the time "yes". For us, hurricane season is like christmas coming around every year. It comes in and goes out, like the tide.

Well I refuse to watch the new queen movie cuz they fired Sasha Baron Cohen. That being said, everyone please search Marc Martel on youtube. I would pay big money to watch him sing Queen live, I'm not even joking.
