I tend to think - instead of evolution - that everyone basically came up around the same time. Reason being that 99% of all organisms that have ever lived are now extinct. So if things are "evolving" then evolution isn't really working. Which leads me to believe nothing evolves. Much like a strawberry starts as a seed, it's possible the "seed" of life in the ocean started everything at the same time, but the megladon just wasn't sustainable. As with rhinos or anything else.
I've been saying this for awhile - and many people disagree with me - that the concept of "free" is invalid. Whether you're talking about free will, free speech, or a free cup of coffee. How is the coffee "free" if someone somewhere paid for it? How is it free if the very digestion of anything takes a toll on the body? How is will "free" if you're living in a universe obviously being run on determinism? You didn't choose your parents, your culture, the soil you were born on, the language you spoke, the people you work with, or the planet you came from. How is speech "free" is it requires the largest military in the world just to defend it? And even then, people still don't respect your speech. The word "free" is a non-word.
The kitty seems like a nice hire tho.
