There is a local restaurant that makes a burger that is supposed to be half bacon and half beef. In reality, it is half pork, not bacon. Sort of tastes like a meatball and is not that good.
I have a friend who was attacked by a policeman in his own garage. Dropped the jerk with one punch. In the end, he was told that if he wanted to ever live unmolested in California, he needed to plead guilty to assault. even so, there was an unsubstantiated drug charge on his permanent record that cost him five figures to remove.
I recommend traveling well out of the way when a policeman is doing wrong.
Using popular fiction as a way to explain and explore core scientific concepts. Brilliant!
Of course, when I was younger, I would have preferred to physically travel the universe searching for attractive and willing aliens for attempted breeding. Now that I am settled, I applaud such mental explorations.
Yes, I saw that as well, but then how would "... contaminants have built up on the surface." My amusement is that the article, and perhaps the caretakers of the IPK, are blaming "... industrialisation and modern living ...". A great dodge to blame society rather than taking responsibility for not doing their job properly.
I doubt that it is just surface contaminants. Platinum absorbs gasses throughout its whole structure. The outside can be cleaned, removing the absorbed gasses will take deep vacuum and quite a bit of time.
