Except for the token mention of Tokyo (and Mexico City), it is a Western-centric list. I live in the Far East and have been to cities in seven countries in Asia, and I must say that they have their own unique takes on beer culture and pubs.
I was in Cabanatuan two weeks ago on business. I wish I could've visited the POW camp (if it is still there).
I lost at least two of my grandfather's brothers to "the Hike": one was executed as a straggler, the other died from exhaustion and disease upon reaching the camp. One of their cousins survived to tell the tale.
I am a nonfic reader and I rarely read any book more than twice, except books on modern physics. I may need to read a book on quantum theory, relativity, and big bang theory four times to really absorb the information.
The only fiction book I have read three times is Pride and Prejudice for a high school book report.
I just ate a double down dog for lunch today. It's greasy and very unhealthy. And I like it! I'm sure I'll regret this ten years from now, but I always live for the moment. :p
BTW, I like balut too. It is messy and can be unhealthy (high cholesterol). But don't knock it till you tried it. I've been eating it since I was about four or five years old. Yummy stuff. Next, you'll tell me you think dinuguan (pork's blood soup) is disgusting too!
I'm not worried about GMOs or the "evil" multinational companies (e.g. Monsato) that luddites love to bash. The problem is that they are usually not as tasty as the way more expensive "organic" stuff. Or it could be because of the "earthy", "ethnic" packaging that organic products come in...
