Taisa, a rare Japanese white stork, broke his beak last November. Since then, he's had difficulty catching fish and couldn't get along with his girlfriend due to stress. Dentist Toshiaki Chiba fitted Taisa with an artificial beak made from plastic resin and dental adhesive. Since pollinating insects like bees can see in the ultraviolet spectrum, flowers actually look different to them (as compared to you and me). Some flowers even guide these insects to their nectar by painting an ultraviolet "bull's eye". Link |
