I find tales of those crazy explorers to be fascinating. Taking a zeppelin to the north pole was one of the wildest. Scott getting to the south pole only to see a Norwegian flag etc. there must have been heartbreaking.
For years we have stored our pancake syrup in the fridge. Mrs.O wanted to heat up some for waffles. Reading the label she realized it did not need to be cooled for storage. Welcome to room temperature syrup.
It died when all the westerns vanished. There are none on TV. Thanks for reruns on nostalgia channels. Our older daughter's middle name is the name of one of those good looking ladies on wild Wild West who was named Krystal. Thanks to Mrs. O.
I still have a newspaper article proclaiming a study showing beer is the healthiest of all beverages. I am an advocate of that to this day. I remember once when it was thought that distilled spirits needed to have nutritional labels. "They" decided it might make them look good for you, and dropped the idea.
Reminds me of when I was in the Army and hitch hiking in North Carolina along a new stretch of I-95. Hot a ride from a young guy in an old Ford business coupe. It became a white knuckle ride for me as we were flying so fast the road/bridges, etc.were literally zipping by us. I was relieved when he had to pull off the road and leave me for my next hitch. Don't know if he had a moonshine tank in the back, but could have.
I think like that too. I knew my Great Grandfatjher who was born in 1867. Even went to a few baseball games with him. My youngest Grandaughters were born in 2013 and 2016. They could live past 2100. That means I will have known people who lived in 4 different centuries. Cool.
