This is an early prototype of a pair of dentures. When a person had a matching set of these, they could actually chew through most wood and metal, as well as their food.

It is a horseshoe designed for the game of polo. Polo and soccer/football initially began as the same game. The original game was a game more like soccer/football played by horses. The cleats were just like the cleats that other athleats use during their games of soccer/football.

It's called a Naxe. Swung like an axe, this over-sized hand tool was used as an aerating tool for lumberjacks. Around the same time that blood-letting was popular in the medical sciences, lumberjacks took the same idea of "sap-letting" to the trees. When a tree was damages, they would swing this implement into the tree, puncturing it in many places. The tool successfully released the sap, but it didn't heal the tree at all.

It's a nose sweep. In the early 20th Century, chimney sweeps attempted to use their chimney-cleaning experience to develop this new grooming device. This tiny product was inserted into the nasal cavity and rotated until the passage was free of blockage. Early prototypes, like this, were made of metal, besmirching the reputation of the chimney sweeps. Later, softer, models never made it into the production phase because this first version turned off the customers.

It's the first version of the nail gun. You swing this contraption like a hammer and whenever a nail sticks into the wood, it comes un-attached from your "nail gun". The only problem was, in order to make the nails properly dislodge from this tool, they had to be loosened. Sometimes, the nails would come off on the up-swing instead, poking their wielder in unwanted locations.

Little known to most people, the game of Operation actually began as a multiple-person torture device, shown here as a prototype model. The "recipient" as the game-players were called at the time, had to weave their fingers around the terminals as quickly as they could. When they inevitably made contact with the metal, they would receive a punishing shock, and then it was the next player's turn.

It's a party-line Morse code listening device. With several relays in tandem, the theory was that you could receive five letters at the same time, increasing the speed of Morse code by a significant amount. In practice, however, it took five people on the sending end of the setup and five people on the listening end, and they often confused their messages together. This appliance was the inspiration for the telephone, however, because it was so terrible of a machine.

It's an automatic fish-broiler / fish-tank combination. In the early 1900s, before refrigeration was common, this fish tank doubled as a fish-broiler by simply connecting the tank to an electrical source. This kept the fish at top freshness until it was time to eat!

It's a robotic hamster cage. Wherever the robot hamster went, he could just plug into the nearest terminal bar to take a nap. In the back, there was a mechanical salt block equivalent as well, which was simply a nine volt battery attached to the wall.

It's a manual distributor box. Back in the early days of automotives, one person had to drive, while a second person disconnected and reconnected all the spark plugs as fast as they could, in order to keep the car running.
