meh, I personally think birthday celebrations are completely silly after maybe 30. I'm 46, rarely have I remembered it was my b-day for the past decade+ until somebody wished me a happy birthday at some point during the day.
The way I look at it is that every single day I'm exactly a year older than I was last year on this day. Big whoop.
If used as an excuse for a get together of people who you wish to be around, that's peachy. For me personally, who is admittedly an introvert, it seems like half the time I'm stuck doing what other people want me to do on that day.
