I wonder how many different species (species?) hang out on our faces. Eyelash bugs are different, right? Do they live peacefully together in their own zones, or get into struggles?
Note: I was struck by the reference to the third millennium BC as "prehistory," so I looked it up. The definition of "prehistory" varies for different places, because "history" begins when a culture has a written language for archiving information.
And don't forget, the water doesn't just disappear - it returns as rain, which makes its way back to the ocean. And it can do amazing damage while returning, not mention supporting crops and, well, life in general.
It's speculated by scientists (and other intellectuals) that the oceans will boil in roughly half a billion years. By then sun will have enlarged enough to do that. I'm aware this isn't accepted as fact by everyone, but it seems about right based on what we know about the life of stars.

I used to eat white rice and salt exclusively. Then, my grandma introduced me to pickles - that broke the spell of white rice and salt, and now I eat everything. Damn pickles!
