I used to work at a public TV station and met Fred Rogers numerous times at national conventions. He was just as nice in person as he appeared on TV, kind and soft-spoken and courteous. He swam every day and wore one of those rather odd-looking silicone caps. I heard from many parents that he played a big role in their children's development and understanding of the world. What a great man!
