Many people don't have the ability to problem-solve like those of us who thought "cookie jar" or "mug/stein". Some think of it (piggy bank? USB hub?) but think that they don't seal well, or are the wrong size, or too impersonal to do the job. Many aren't crafty and/or have time to take a class to learn how to do it themselves or have resources to make something on their own. Sometimes there is someone who doesn't mind the challenge of making something for the sake of the challenge but need the spur of doing it for a reason that's better than "I did it" and "where am I going to put it?"

Give them a break. It's a good thought, a reasonable request, and if you don't have a productive suggestion then just don't post anything at all. They didn't ask for money - though we can assume they're hurting for it - just help with an urn.
