The Geekiest Tattoo Ever

Redditor s_jove's tattoo is a beautiful affirmation of geek identity: the inscription of the One Ring from The Lord of the Rings, a Gallifreyean seal from Doctor Who and the answer to the Ultimate Question of Life, the Universe and Everything from The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy. It could be improved only by adding a quote by Malcolm Reynolds written in Klingon.

An artist named Dave at Tattoos at the Red Room in Michigan inked this tattoo.

Prisoner of Technology

Feel trapped by technology? In a print campaign for Go Outside magazine, Brazilian designer Felipe Luchi imagined our beloved gadgets as physical prisons: Link (Bonus: if you look closely, you'll see that there are ways to escape from these prisons) - via Twisted Sifter

Edwardian London and Cork

(YouTube link)

This footage was filmed around 1900 in the cities of London, England, and Cork, Ireland. However, it doesn't look like any 100-year-old film you've seen, because it's been altered to make it more like being there than the film technology of the time could produce.

This video has been dramatically enhanced in quality, using modern video editing tools. The film has been motion stabilized and the speed has been slowed down to correct speed (from 18 fps to 24 fps) using special frame interpolation software that re-creates missing frames. Upscaling to HD quality was done using video enhancer software.

Boston Sings the Star-spangled Banner

(video link)

Boston held its first major sports event since Monday's bombing as the Boston Bruins hockey team hosted the Buffalo Sabres last night. As he has for 35 years, Rene Rancourt began singing the national anthem. But it turned into a singalong, and Rancourt lowered his mic and directed the crowd through the song. It was a nice demonstration of solidarity and pride from the people of Boston, Buffalo, and other sports fans. -via reddit

Spinning Seal Spins

(Video Link)

At the center of the universe, the Great Seal remains still. You and everything else, however, spin around it.

I could watch this video all day. I'd love to have it on a continuous loop.

Yeah, well, I'm gonna build my own wood stove. With blackjack. And hookers! That's what Halftroll did, welding together a model of Bender B. Rodriguez from Futurama. You can read a complete description and view photos of the building process at the link.

Radioactive Spider Bite

Peter Parker went on to become the famous hero Spider-Man. Teen-Spider developed an impressive comic book collection. Alas, fame eluded him, as this comic by Jim Benton illustrates.

Ren & Stimpy's Rendezvous with Rama

Jason Welborn mashed up 90's toon Ren & Stimpy with Arthur C. Clarke's sci-fi classic Rendezvous with Rama in this nifty illustration. If you don't like it, we've only got one thing to say to you: YOU SICK LITTLE MONKEY!

Clifford the Big Red Dog

There are big dogs and there are red dogs, but Emily Elizabeth has the biggest, reddest dog on her street. In fact, the biggest on Birdwell Island. Sandara, an artist in Singapore, imagined a realistic--and somewhat frightening--Clifford.

René Magritte's Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles

If Splinter had been more fond of Surrealism than Renaissance art, what would he have named the turtles? Which turtle is this one? Ben6835's painting provides more questions than answers.
