T-shirt, poster, sooomuch swag!

Man, the last time I was on a train (the only time, come to think of it) was almost fifty years ago. My mom (I think she was pregnant) and younger brother and I went from OKC to Atchison to see family. I met my great-grandmother, who I was named after, and some of my mom's aunts and uncles. The last time I went there was by car with my mom, grandmother, and mom's sister to see where the old house was, about twenty years later. I loved that train ride and the gorgeous station in Kansas.

Okay, sorry about the agenda bit. Whoever wrote this just seemed to pick and choose their facts without checking if they were right or wrong, especially about the different parties. It's not an easy subject to condense to a quick little article and it felt like the facts were just used to justify a point of view, instead of stating how the parties actually worked at the time.

Those who do not study their history are doomed to reapeat it. Jefferson was a "Democratic Republican", which became the Democratic party after his death. The Federalist party was started by Hamilton, and Jefferson started the Democratic Republicans to offset their beliefs. The Federalist party passed the Alien and Seditionist act which caused it to collapse because of the backlash. Thse men then formed the Whig party, which also eventually collapsed. The members who were left, and the Communist party members who came over here, joined together to form the modern Republican party. You need to do a little better checking of your facts unless you are trying to push an agenda of your own, or are just too lazy to do proper research of your facts.

Because my old ones are worn out and I desperately need some new reading material! (That isn't the internet, since the laptop doesn't go into the bathroom!!)
