continued......and also, your experiment is talking about floating ice on top of the already existing water surface. The polar ice caps are enormous under the water, much like iceburgs and you are not taking that into account with your experiment.
And even though I am not religious, I did like post #39/flabio who quoted that line from the Bible;

With regards to the experiment conducted by post #60/Science Guy; your theory sounds good - but then you started with a glass that was 50% full of water and afterwards the glass was 75% full - so what does that tell you?
It tells me that the water RISES.
Mind you, I read every single comment on this article and there were some very interesting remarks, the usual smart remarks and the remarks from people who think drowning will be "funny".
Definitely some food for thought here......and talking of food, how would we grow potatoes if the earth is flooded? I like my chips!

That is something I never took into account - very good observation actually. And yet the irony is that if the world did flood then living on boats would be the only practical way to live! How do you get your head around that?!!!
