In Germany as a child we would put a "Dickmanns, into a crusty roll and smacked it down- it was absolutely delicious - this was called - Klatsch Brotchen- Smack Roll.
In terms of the name years ago no-one paid that much attention to political correction especially not those millions of children that loved to eat them.
For example- Ba Ba Black sheep is now deemed as being offensive as is the golly wog with the jam jars.
I can just say that the recipe now a days i think has changed- they are more sweeter.
But i do still like them -especially in a roll.
