Automatically adding gratuity on groups actually is a good idea for servers. While some of you may say you always tip more than the X% added as auto-gratuity, not everyone does this! Besides, when multiple people are paying for a bill (especially if they're using both cash and credit card payments), it's easy for even well meaning customers to accidentally stiff the server.

Just because gratuity is on the check, it doesn't mean you're unable to add more! Feel free to add to it to equal what you normally tip.

The author brought this topic up over Thanksgiving dinner... Really? If I went to a dinner where this was a topic of conversation I'd excuse myself as quickly as possible and never return.

I agree that clients who get free or discounted services can be the worst. I used to data conversion work for a software company, and whenever the clients were given a flat rate, or a comped conversion by our sales department, they always had unrealistic demands and expectations. When they actually had to pay the full regular hourly rate for me to do the work they were much more agreeable.

Sure, under perfectly controlled circumstances you might be able to have a more efficient boarding process. In practice, however, I can see this being a nightmare to manage.

Every time I board a plane it's a madhouse. It seems difficult enough to get people to even line up to board in broad seat groupings, to have this detailed of a boarding process doesn't seem practical.

I grow tired of hearing people from the west coast saying how we should react during an earthquake in a region where there are never earthquakes and always worries about terrorist attacks.

+1 to what #3 said. The game looked interesting, but I had to keep skipping through their commentary because I wanted to punch them in their necks.

Well, I guess it'll be kind of funny for a while. Whenever she unfriends someone, she can just take a marker and put a big X over their picture on her arm.
