Up until the mid to late eighties there used be 1hr photo shops in strip mall parking lots all over the place,at least in New England, and that's just about what they looked like. They couldn't have been more than 8'x8' and were usually in the middle of the lot. From the look of the icon I'd say it was made at a time when it would be instantly recognizable as a photo-shop. I love it.
