Sparky - Mispronunciation of the word "deaf" as "deef" was a thing in earlier times. It shows up in older cartoons, I am thinking Max Fleisher, occasionally. My father used to mock my childhood hearing loss by asking me if I was deef. He thought that was pretty clever.
