I had a brass branding iron made that I use for marking furniture I make. Says Hand Crafted by James B* and has removable date digits. This looks like it would get hot enough for wood or leather, or cotton textiles like denim or canvas. Or you could get a satanic symbol and burn your own face.

I didn't know that was kaolin inside light bulbs. I just used some stabilize the ceramic fiber insulation in my blacksmith forge. And we used to use salt, water, and ice - all swirlled around - to clean glass coffee pots at the restaurant.

It is a blacksmiths hot punch, for drifting round holes in hot metal. If it had a rectangular point it would be a farriers pritchel chisel, but the round makes me think it is more for blacksmithing than farrier work. If it was for cold work it wouldn't need the handle, but for hot work it would get too hot to hold so the handle is attached.
