My first thought upon seeing these photos (in an email) was "photoshop"; my next (upon seeing that the crowd were actually responding to his presence) was "wonder where the support is?"
These days we KNOW it's a trick, the only question is how it's done... Doesn't take much research to find a photo like the one Tres linked, either...
